Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Headstrong talks about HOTD Overkill: It's a sucess and actually censored

As they said, they worked very hard to create a strong identity for this game.

They should have worked equally as hard to give the game a working framerate. There were times when I thought that I was watching a slide show.

Everytime that there was too much stuff exploding on the screen, everything slowed down severely.  It's as though they thought that putting more pretty explosions on the screen was more important than making the game run smoothly.

It's not so much that the framerate was the worst that I've seen or anything like that, but on a game that needs for you to be perfectly accurate in your shooting while going for a high score it's unacceptable.

That is a disc reading related issue. On my retail disc I get a significant amount of studdering. Running off HD the problem is gone. They did a bad job optimizing their streaming code and didn't allow for the slow(ish) Wii DVD reader to catch up. It really is a bummer to, for some it seriously hurt the game. For me it was more of a minor annoyance but still.
