I still do not think they needed to the first time. They just need to keep putting out the fun games.

"Why do they all believe Arc and Natal will kill the Wii?"
Malstrom theorizes it's more to try to get investors and stockholders to stop telling developers to make games for the Wii. They were on developers over this since 2007, and developers have clearly been resistant. That might have been why niche games are largely announced to be tests. They know the games won't sell well, but it's not really to tell gamers what to do, but to make it look to the stockholders as though they are trying.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Nintendo has many weapons remaining under its arm. Why do they need to cut the price if the Wii can outsell both PSP, Xbox and PS3 at the same time? |
Don't you love how analyst say that casuals
Yet those same analysts claim that Nintendo should fear Natal and Arc.
Oh, dear God...
I get back from Dubai after two weeks of no VGC just to see this nonsense...
And I literally mean nonsense - they are getting mighty desperate... "New Casual Market"? WTF!?

It's not that simple for developers. They sunk all their investments into HD game development at the beginning of the generation, and were either unable or unwilling to change direction when the Wii suddenly seized the lead. The only remaining tool they had at their disposal was to attempt to convince the audience that HD was the way to go. To that end, industry developers, analysts and media alike built up a sense of elitism aimed squarely against the Wii, which only served to further alienate the 'core' gaming community from entrants coming from the larger market. The end result is that they can't support Nintendo this generation, because it would involve going back on their words (and by this point, it's too late for this generation anyway). Considering that they choked off any new blood from entering their market segment, this will result in the destruction of many third parties, and a drastic swing in the long term balance of power of the console wars back in Nintendo's favour as new developer entrants are heavily restricted by the ever-increasing cost of entry to the gaming market, and the survivors attempt to recover from this generation. In that, it matters little for Nintendo if third parties never figure it out. |
Kenny has too many quotables - someone sig this post.

I'm not sure many hardcore give a damn about those franchises... or at least those who don't already own a Wii.
Most of em were PS2 only owners afterall.
the DSi is untouchable ,I dont care what some dope on the internet is saying. and I wonder if Natal and Arc will come with free helmets for riding the short bus
