Forums - Nintendo Discussion - A few things I would like to see in the 5th Generation of Pokémon.

PLEASE DON'T POST YOUR OWN IDEAS.  EVEN THOUGH MOST OF YOU WILL, I WANT THIS THREAD TO BE ABOUT MY THOUGHTS BELOW.

1.) The Nerfing of Stealth Rock.  It's so common in most movepools and so easy to setup yet it completely neuteres Fire/Flying types, Bug/Flying types, etc.

2.) More moves that raise Attack 2 stages.  Swords Dance is not enough. (inb4 Acupressure)

3.) Better Physical Electric and Ghost type moves.  I actually cried a little when Shadow Ball was made special and the best move my Banette could use was Shadow Claw.  Also dislike that Volt Tackle is exclusive to Pichu and its evolutionary forms but most other are limited to Spark/Thunder Fang. Luxray ;__;

4.) An ability that lowers the opponent's Special Attack.  Intimidiate is very useful, especially on Bulky Pokemon like Gyarados.  Why not a special variant?

5.) The Buffing of elemental Held Items.  Items like Charcoal, Mystic Water, Miracle Seed, Magnet, etc. are pretty useless when taking into account Choice Band/Specs/Life Orb.

6.) The Nerfing of Outrage.  Like one member of this forum has said in the past, it's broken.

7.) Less HM's.  1/3 of the members in my initial party in Diamond and Platinum were HM slaves.  It made me rather unhappy.

8.) The Return of Diving.  I loved it in Ruby and Sapphire.

9.) The Return of Exterior Bases.  See above.  The Villa in Platinum was a nice touch but I would love the choice of where I can put it.

10.) Less Zubat and Geodude in caves.  A pet peeve really but it's getting old.

That's why you don't use those types against rock types?

Aren't most eletric types have a higer special attack than attack?

That's why you don't use those types against rock types?
Stealth Rock makes them unviable at all.  Not just against Rock types.

Actually yes, but there should be the other to use Physical moves, Luxray's potential is spoiled by it.

I'll admit that Diving was slow but I just enjoyed being underwater, an increase in speed perhaps?

We should care why?
It's like the camp of people who complain about Pokemon like Taillow and Starly being rehashes of Pidgey.  It's just annoying and overused.

Anyway, I completely agree with your HM slave point. While necesarry to have something to move the story forward while not getting too far ahead, there are too many HMs. I don't have an alternative idea, but that's definitely one of my peeves as well.

The rest of your points are valid too, but the thing is, I don't wanna lose all my DPPtHGSS progress. The new generation needs to be compatible with the previous games from DP forward.

My guess is that the fifth generation is going to be a DSi enhanced affair.  Playable on DS and DS Lite but there will be more options on the DSi and DSi XL.  Don't quote me on this though.  I'm hoping that's the case though.

i hate how many HMs are in platinum, not to mention the occasional situation where you need flash/dig ...etc. i managed to get by with "only" two HM slaves neither one is good for fighting since all of their moves are HMs, but better than teaching HMs to my main pokemon

still would rather they became some kind of invention/item the professor gives you or something...

also agree with most of those points, especially "Better Physical Electric and Ghost type moves" + more ground moves :p

but what really annoys me is that you have those super powerful moves, Fire blast, Hydro pump, Thunder... then you have solar beam... why make it gimped like that?? having to take an extra turn to charge the attack while all other just attack normally... it's been driving me crazy since generation ONE

I definitely agree with this one. How many times are we going to see a Skarmory with the Stealth Rock/Spikes/Roar moveset? It's annoying, and it makes a lot of usable Pokemon... not usable.

This is why I loved my Leafeon. My Swords Dance/Baton Pass moveset was pretty awesome. Plus, it allowed me to have Leafeon on my team. I <3 Leafeon.

Yeah, poor Luxray was a victim of a craptastic move set... actually... most of electric Pokemon suffer from this travesty. And why did Dusclops get an awesome evolution while Banette did not? She's a possessed stuffed animal! That's too awesome to ignore!

Good point. There's a LOT of special sweepers out there, and we need a little help once in a while Game Freak. Get on it!

Mhm, Smogon is a prime example of how little items are actually worthwhile in the metagame. Like seriously, half of my team just has the Life Orb.

Yeah, the move lasts forever and just destroys everything. Everything except for Steel Pokemon just get destroyed.

That's not a half-bad idea.  Having a craft to Surf, Fly, Flash, etc.  would be pretty cool.

Ground types have options.. like Earthquake, Earth Power, and stuff.

Also, I think Gamefreak hates Grass types.  They may have Leaf Storm and Wood Hammer but Solarbeam is a bit of a crutch in my opinion.
