please don't say you downloaded one of those pop ups?!

Do you know which AntiVirus program it is?

1. Download and install free Microsoft Security Essentials.

2. Remove all other Antivirus programs from you computer.
3. Stop using IE to browse the web.

These fake anti-virus attacks are becoming more frequent and invasive; I've seen it at work on more than one occasion, in numerous similar looking variations.

We use malwarebytes and it seems to work well: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

I'm running malwarebytes right now.
I never downloaded this; it just appeared this morning. I'm trying to kill it RIGHT NOW!

Do you know the name? I've gotten two recently (Eco Antivirus and Vista Antispyware 2010), and they both made my computer nearly useless. Took hours to get rid of them. Malwarebytes should do the job, but depending on the complexity of the virus, it may take more. Good luck.

Uh oh.. Victim of the AntiVirus 2010 bullshit.

I see you've started scanning malwarebytes' already, go pick up SuperAntiSpyware with that, after malwarebytes' is done, run the other one to make sure you've got everything. (Some scanners pick up things that others don't).

Here's a link to get SuperAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE

Good luck.

If you had a good antivirus to start with that wouldn't be a problem.

I had Malwarebytes run for about an hour, and after running a scan with it things seem alright.........for now. I don't wanna jinx anything.

I'm updating my standard McAfee defense thing that came with the laptop (finally registered). Any supplemental programs I should download in case it missed something? It did check 240,000 of my files though.

McAfee is awful, you should get AVG or Microsoft Security Essentials or something.
