Kazunori Yamauchi: The latter is what we do. We don't disect other games while developping Gran Turismo - we only focus on what we want to achieve with the game. By "low quality" he's probably talking about unrealistic car behaviour in games rather than esthetic or pure gameplay.

I hope something got lost in the translation...I dislike T10 to the max because of their arrogance and loud mouthed behaviour... I hope PD don't sink to their low levels..

Grand Turismo 3 was my last installment in the Gran Turismo series because I found it to be very pretty but shallow ... I'm not a fan of simulation racing in general because I find this is a common failing of the genre.

With that said, when you're spending (what has been rumoured to be) over 5 years and $100 Million to develop a game and your competition releases 3 $20 Million games in the same time your game better be dramatically better; and sell dramatically better too. If you spend dramatically longer and dramatically more money to achieve an incremental improvement you have really been wasteful.

Most likely he wasn't talking about forza, and more about other japanese developer racing games.

I really believe he so absorbed in his ego he doesn't even care to play Forza3 which is his truly competition.

If they do not use some features of forza like rewarding more if you playing difficult without tweaks but give option to use tweaks also, rewind feature etc, Forza may turn out the most fun game, even if GT5 is more impressive.

that's exactly what sony did with PSN, they said "we don't care about the compeition, we don't want to be influenced by them" and there you go.. PSN wasn't any where near as good as XBL at launch.
