Looking at what Super Mario Sunshine did on the GC in Japan, 0.87 million, I'm not sure why anyone expected Galaxy to be a mega seller.
Super Mario 64 only did 1.92 million and maybe Galaxy's final figure will fall somewhere between the two.
USA seems to be the biggest selling area by far for home console Mario games.

I always felt the need to hug those Japanese for their greater taste in games, but I feel more like slapping them at this point and hugging the Americans for having such a deversity in game taste, for all consoles. I'm sad too right now, but I guess looking at the US charts as soon as they're out gives me a much happier feeling. So, the sooner they're here, the better!

Koei should be happy. Gundam Musou, Bladestorm and Dynasty Warriors use the same engine and actually I'm shocked Japanese keep buying same game over and over again.

Im thinking of hugging the Europeans, only because I don't know their taste in games.

Japan has gone entirely casual and America is obsessed with FPS, sports and racing. I hate both countries for their taste in gaming to be honest.

Honestly, no country or area has good taste in gaming.

You're best off just hating society in general.

Thing is people have different tastes in gaming, this is what Nintendo is trying to create, a market in which anyone can walk into a store and find a game that appeals to them, like in a bookstore, you don't just have one type of genre you have hundreds, something for everyone

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Yes, this is the real goal pursued by Revolution.

"Introducing … Wii.

As in “we.”

While the code-name “Revolution” expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.

Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.

Wii will put people more in touch with their games … and each other. But you’re probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like “we,” which emphasizes this console is for everyone.

Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

Wii has a distinctive “ii” spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.

And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that’s Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.

Because, it’s really not about you or me.

It’s about Wii.

And together, Wii will change everything.

Call it as you want : revolution , paradigm shift etc... this don't change its long term objective.

PS : Avish, the bookstore analogy is from Malstrom, isn't it ?
