Forums - Gaming Discussion - Marvel vs Capcom 2 question

I purchased Marvel vs Capcom 2 today because of the Deal of the Week. I'm not familiar with the series at all, and I'm wondering how to do the "screen-filling" Hyper Combos.

At the Help Menu, it says each character has a few Hyper Combos at their moves list. So I check the moves list, but the Hyper Combos listed there are just basic moves, not combos at all...

Please help!

hmmm. the hyper combos ARE just the regular moves, except you press more buttons at the end. Like if you have a fireball, then the hyper combo is the fireball d-pad motion plus both punches, or both punches and kicks, I can't remember which.

Also, you need to have the energy guage up high enough to do it, otherwise it won't work properly.

The hyper combos are the same for all characters really.

They are either...
slide Down to Forward and press both punches
slide Down to Back and press both punches
slide Down to Forward and press both kicks
slide Down to Back and press both kicks

So just give those a try.

if you want to call forth 1 or more of your partners to do a double/triple hyper combo, then instead of 2 punches or two kicks, you can press 1 or both of your "swap out to partner" buttons.

I see. I played online today and those guys kept hitting me amazing screen-filling special attack combos (15 hits and so), I figured that were Hyper Combos...

Any idea how to do those awesome combos or do I have to experiment with each character 'till I find out?

youtube is your friend. There are infinite combos too.

Haha, that's exactly what I mean!

So it's just bashing buttons until a nice combo comes out of it and trying to remember what buttons you pushed? I'll try some of that now.

Not button mashing if you know what you're doing

An easy one (if I remember correctly) if you want to try with an akuma and jill valentine (akuma currently fighting, jill "next in line"). Bear with me, I haven't played the game since the arcade.

1. courching light kick-> crouching medium kick (I believe those are the same button) -> hard hurricane kick as akuma (if you can't get this combo, then you'll need lots and lots of practice for harder ones)
2. while in air and falling from hurricane kick, fireball + both punches to have akuma do air super combo (lots of air fireballs)
3. As opponent is falling from those and about to hit ground, fireball + both kicks (I think) will bring out jill and have her do the tyrant super combo.

So, just a lot of stuff like that was in the video along with lots of dashes, etc. etc. Just takes practice and maybe reading some combos on gamefaqs or a MvC2 site.
