there are many ps3 falling like flies at the moment: the 60gb is ylod and 40gb is the optical lens. PS3 is taken for the 360! lol! MS and Sony are fighting on all plans!

You can find someone who can make it turn on (the blower and paste replacement thing) for it to work at least to give you time to back up you HDD. After that, good luck. You could try selling it to a complete stranger for cheap :P well, at the very very least, you must know the blu-ray drive (and lens) are valuable parts that can be sold for a least US$50 (just the lens) I guarantee you will find someone interested in those. Power supply and external case (if in good shape with minor scratches) is also valuable.
However, try to get it working properly and sell it, that model is very sought after and you'll definitely find a buyer.
Mine is about 2.5 years old its a 40 gig, no problems yet, knock on wood, but the day it dies will be a sad one.

I just vacuumed it yesterday. ^_^ That said, I hope the problem is JUST dust and not something else.
seems a lot of of the YLOD is happening from the 60 gb model.
shitty deal! the shock of getting that is harsh. yeah it's a system but it's still balls. sorry to hear buddy
My 80gb model broke down on me about 2 months ago :(. I had had it for about 2 years. I am oh so very sad, I even bought Mag and could not even start playing it!!!
God I wanted to play that game so bad lol
It was a model with backwards compatibility. I could probably sell it for a lot to someone who thinks they can get it to work!
