The PS2 pulled off an MMO....

The most successful MMO ever isn't very hardware intensive, I wouldn't be too shocked if it could be run on Wii.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Wait, I need at least 3 reasons why you hate the Wii before I diverge any further knowledge.

1. I think they have forgotten gamers this gen for the most part.

2. vitality sensor...........RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. hugh step backwards, it's why they are being ingored by the industry, which main focus is progress though even that is kinda vague, no real developer is going to put any time or effort in making a title on the wii because they have the ps3 and xbox 360 to work with, there is no way around the fact that the wii is in all ways incapable of proving anything that the next gen console can't and then some, also judging by the stuff that sells amazingly well on the wii, why should they, if wii fit, sports, play, wii watever sells 10's of millions of units, so to a developer that says I can put any casual crap together and it will sell bucketloads riiight, this is of course wrong, at least their casual crap is actually fun, even if only when your stoned or with you gamer dumb family. I try really hard to like the wii but it is in no way worth my money, no game or games can match my ps3, friends 360 (LMAO), and pc library, they are fun and probaly good games, but my type of gamer not worth it, I game for hours upon hours upon hours, 26 straight on killone 2 once, I see nothing for the wii that can ever hold that much of my time,

look I really want to like the wii, and if you can tell me some titles you think would be worth it I would check them out,

but A pokemon mmo/rpg now that's what I can see myself spending hours upon hours of game time on that, as long as they don't screw the contolls with that motion crap, ( screw wii motion controlls, screw sony dildo (but if it comes with vibrate I'm soo buying it, make gaming with my girlfriend super awesome imo), and screw natal.

ps. I apologise wii fans for my ignorance but i just don't see the point.

Let's put it like this.... you don't see the appeal of the Wii, I don't see the appeal of Pokemon (nor in fact the X360) I just don't go araound "hating" them.

You are kinda like me gamigs_best. I'd stop hating Sony if they abandoned the Dual Shock design on their controllers, and designed a totally new one.

Unfortunately for both of us, it seems we will never stop hating on Nintendo/Sony :(

"Gamers" left Nintendo in 1996. Why Nintendo today has to run after them?

'could the wii handle an mmo?'

cod mwr if you change the guns to dice rolls, is basically an mmo, just missing a chat function

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Wii Friend Code: 4094-4604-1880-6889

Never going to happen. Nintendo/Game Freak have a rather fixed vision of what Pokemon is, a primarily local experience. And Nintendo doesn't want to get tied down with all the obligations that comes from running an MMO, or i at least don't think they do.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

1. I think they have forgotten gamers this gen for the most part .This might take a while. Gamers have long since abandoned Nintendo, for about 6 years. The root of this lies with the developers, who barely supported the GC and aren't supporting the Wii now. Nintendo is a business first. If that includes making a Mario game to sell 12 million in 12 weeks, so be it. However, they have dropped plenty of games first party wise in nearly every genre except for maybe Star Fox and Donkey Kong. Even if they made a SF, people would still be complaining, because it wouldn't compare to Ace Combat or some HD variant of the series. I ca recognize that Nintendo needs to make money. If it ironically comes at the expense of gamers who don't even support them, that's fine with me.

2. vitality sensor...........RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Vitality Sensor hasn't had any information diverged about it yet in terms of software application; how can we know it will be bad? I could say the same thing for Natal and Arc, but I already know those will be lame lol

3. hugh step backwards, it's why they are being ingored by the industry, which main focus is progress though even that is kinda vague, no real developer is going to put any time or effort in making a title on the wii because they have the ps3 and xbox 360 to work with, there is no way around the fact that the wii is in all ways incapable of proving anything that the next gen console can't and then some, also judging by the stuff that sells amazingly well on the wii, why should they, if wii fit, sports, play, wii watever sells 10's of millions of units, so to a developer that says I can put any casual crap together and it will sell bucketloads riiight, this is of course wrong, at least their casual crap is actually fun, even if only when your stoned or with you gamer dumb family. Huge step backwards? More like progressive step forward. Look, the game industry is shrinking, and development costs are friggin astronomical. Prototype sold 1.9 million and the dev team still got job cuts. Countless companies have shut down in the past few years, while Nintendo has somehow made more profit in one year than the whole GC era. I could praise their sales all day, but the fact of the matter is gaming is shrinking. The only thing I personally have seen PS3/360 games have above the Wii is the graphics department and online implementation. The Havok physics engine system runs fine on both PS360 and Wii, so there is no advantage there. Honestly, the gameplay is exactly the same as lest gen, but just looks better. How many games have we seen attempt to sell purely off graphical power but have no substance?

As for developer effort, they do not make Wii games purely because they work inefficiently*, and need enough power so that the items they create do not have to  be scaled down. It is like having duplicate songs in my iTunes library, but since I have a 2TB hard drive, deleting them to save space is pointless. If anything, PS3/360 haven't done anything that the Wii can't do besides graphics. What achievements? Online friend system? Arguable. Not better perhaps, but it can do it. Nintendo's casual titles are not just strewn together pieces of shit like the 3rd party games. Wii Music was an error in approach, but the other titles have loads of polish and research put into how they are created and presented. Nintendo puts some of their BEST teams on these games, not the interns.

look I really want to like the wii, and if you can tell me some titles you think would be worth it I would check them out,

I'll give you games I am interested in if that helps. You have the first party titles of course, Super Smash Bros. Brawl,Super Mario Galaxy, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Mario Kart, & Metroid Prime:Trilogy.

3rd party- Resident Evil 4, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Rune Factory Frontier, COD: Modern Warfare Reflex, No More Heroes 1&2, Trauma Center, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces, Tales of Symphonia 2, Spectrobes Origins, Overlord: Dark Legend, Madworld**, Skate It, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Godfather: Blackhand Edition, de Blob, Shiren the Wanderer, FF: Chocobo's Dungeon, and a host of entertaining Wiiware titles and retro remakes.

Titles coming up include Monster Hunter Tri, Zelda Wii, Enclave, Galaxy 2, Arc Rise Fantasia, Xenoblade, The Last Story, Trauma Team, Epic Mickey, Fragile, and Red Steel 2.

ps. I apologise wii fans for my ignorance but i just don't see the point graphics.

There you go. I hope you actually take in and absorb what I typed.
