okay, my Brother play's MY Copy of Star ocean on MY PS3... never promise others to let them play a game before you got it. And now, i have to kill 30 Minutes (i didnt promise a special time period).

and because of that, i take the chance to tell you a Story... as i posted Yesterday, my Big old 40GB PSlut3 just died in front of me, 1 Year, and 10 Months after i got it... 400 Euro, gone. simply gone. (aswell as my Demons Souls Savegame with my LV 270 Char and ALL Items, because i tried to 'recover my PS3', and didnt know that i'll fuck up all Data with it.)

Okay, then i went to my Bank to lend me the Money for a new one (with a Machine Gun, bwahahaha) and so i went to my local Gamestop... LUCKILY all PS3s were sold out there..  'luckily`why that?' - after that, i went to 'Saturn', and they had more than 20 PS3's in stock, and next to it.. a very special piece of paper.. some kind off special offer was written on it... 'pay 50 additional Bucks for your PS3, and get 4 Years guarantee!'...

'oh well?' i thought, and asked the next possible Guy in this store, what exactly this offer is, and well, it was as i hoped - 'if the PS3 fails on you, we'll take the costs to repair it, for the next 4 Years.'.. with tears in my eyes, i remembered that my old one died not even 2 Years after i got it, and so i have payed 349 Euros in total, and for the case, that my PS3 breaks between Year 1+ and 4, i would have saved much money. and if it lives for all the 4 Years, i have wasted the money, but i wasted it for good reason.

so if you are interrested in such Deals when you get a new one, look out for it , maybe a shop near to you offers that

I thought European Law provides at least a 2 year warranty on goods bought by consumers. Are you sure you had to buy a new one?

i paid 300$ for a new 60gb fat ps3 dont know how that translates to Euro but im sure its less than 350eu also wen i bought it it retailed for 499$

still working fine have had no issues with it yet had it since july 07

It's not too late to get it fixed/replaced. Unless you have thrown it in the trash or something (which btw you should never do with electronics).

my PS3 was about that old and they repaired it while it was out of warranty.. the only 3 things I had to keep to were these

- warranty seal intact
- the damage is not your fault (YLOD, broken blu-ray lense n such were not your fault)
- the original HDD is placed back in (so it didn't void the warranty if I had put another in, but I still had the original anyway)

wow my 40 gig is about 3 years old, gets tons and tons of use, still going strong, knock on wood !!

my 2007 60gb was stolen and my 40gb is two years old and runs like a dream
