I read somewhere in cliff's twitter that he will be in sanfrancisco. He said he's now working of a horror game (gears isn't horror is it?) and a long time ago he said "there's a lot more stories to tell in gears". A new gears game is due later this year.

Now, i need to try to find all these links and shit....so discuss what i have so fare and do you agree with announcing it tomorrow?

I hope its this year if only to give him a fresh slate to make a new next gen I.P for 2013.

Gears of war 3 won't happen till the next X-box aka Next gen.

If Gears 3 released in Q3/Q4 this year it would get slaughtered by Halo Reach and CoD7.

I bet it won't be till Q1/Q2 2011.

Not a fan. Gears is an over-rated franchise. Note the constant downward slide on most-played games list. They need to do some serious rethinking of netcode and multiplayer ideas in order to regain their momentum. Cliff and company really shot themselves in the foot with Gears 2 by under-delivering in almost every way. Lots of people are doing gears-style combat in comparable fashions, and in some cases better. Those mechanics are getting stale fast as everyone and their uncle borrows the 3PS cover and shoot formula.
