It's valid that it is not part of the main series. As for it being good, if you like sending your troops from point A to point B and knowing you'll win because you have the larger force, than it is good.

I liked Grandia 3 albeit not as much as 1 and 2. Grandia xtreme is a spin off; no story but still a awesome fighting engine :). I think it is a fine game on its own just not up to Grandia's pedigree. Overall 1,2 and 3 delivered for me.

Probably not such a popular suggestion, but I'd Pheonix Wright Ace attorney to this list as well! Even the somewhat controversial Apollo Justice game was quite good in my opinion. Every series has it's ups and downs, but with PW the downs are still higher than the ups of mot series.
