Forums - General Discussion - What does an american accent sound like to a foreigner?

By american accent I mean the Midwestern columbus ohio middle class type. Not the new york lois griffin accent.

Namely I would like to hear what native english speakers from other countries think.

I also think it would be fair for me to say that the london cockney accent sounds sorta humble and with a little bit of a taste of the everyman.

My name is blubeard because rosie has a blue beard. Just not on her chest.

I think both the Midwestern accent and Cockney English sounds horrible. I hate it. Sounds primitive and ugly.

EDIT: I mixed up Midwest with Southern.

Heh. I wondered about that question myself.

I think of a southern texas's accent.

Anyway I have a pretty sexy british accent.

I may be wrong about the Midwestern accent though, since I assumed that is the red-neck accent. I think what I mean by red-neck is actually Southern states like Tennessee, Geogia.

Boring, only Texas sounds normal.

In general I hate accents. Usually people with accents sound low class and uneducated, no matter which country it is.

That said, I do like some Irish and Scottish dialects. (maybe it's those around big cities? I have no idea).

Texas sounds normal? Yeah right. The Northeast sounds normal.

Americans sound like Beavers and I hear New Zealanders sound like Ferrits or Chipmunks. However Australians sound like Blue Whales.

Tease.
