What should SE do with the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series?

More console games 12 48.00%

More DS games 2 8.00%

More WiiWare games 2 8.00%

Other 9 36.00%

Total:25

Wow, I knew this series wasn't the most popular, but I wasn't expecting this much dislike for it. Although I've only played two of them so far, the Gamecube version and MLaaD, I thought they were both pretty enjoyable, and they have a really nice environment to them. But I guess it would be nice to have a bit more effort put into the series by SE.

Do people think the DS games did not have much effort put into them? By the standards of a DS game, they seem to me to have been very strong efforts, there's tonnes of game content in them between single player and multiplayer.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Kill it. Get the team(s) to make Gaiden and Tactics games instead.

Why? Solid multiplayer dungeon crawling RPGs have more potential to sell well than "retro" and tactical games. I do agree that they need to just kill it off if they aren't going to treat it right; but then what's stopping them from doing those games the same way? Square-Enix only seems to know how to port from their back catalog and make more 'modern' Final Fantasy games.

Okay, just kill off FF spinoffs entirely.

The world could use more Ogre, Mana and SaGa imo...

According to gamerankings.com, here is how the Crystal Chronicle games rate:

GC      Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
80.50%

WiiWare     Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King
79.88%

DS     Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time
76.91%

DS     Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates
76.75%

WiiWare    Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord
71.78%

Wii     Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
68.29%

Wii     Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time
65.33%

While I personally disagree with Darkloard's relatively low score, this should give you some idea of how they were recieved.

Interesting to note that the bottom two are the two full sized Wii games.

I prefer sales as a measure of how well the games were received.

Echoes of Time is not a full sized Wii game. It's the DS game being played on a TV screen, literally.

1.38 Million

.62 Million

Wii     Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
.16 Million

According to this website of course. Should also be noted that Crystal Bearers will continue to sell for a little while at least. The only two that switch in order are Echoes of Time and Ring of Fates. And about the wii version of Echoes, well, it was still released as a Wii game at retail, so it still kind of counts at least.

Yeah, from my understanding it's actually emulated even, not recoded.  Literally a DS game. :/

They should've done it like Sega with Mario & Sonic imo, (near) identical content but with greatly upgraded visuals/audio.  They could've kept crossplatform play even, and I think the Wii version would've done a whole lot better.
