@Hisiru - Yeah.. so is 4m. Whats your point. Logic states that you're not going to celebrate "over 2m sold" if you've shipped 2.5m. Over 2m shipped is probably their next bach that put them over 2m sold, why else would you boast the 2m figure when you can claim 2.5m.

My point is: We don't have official numbers (solid numbers), so we can't be sure. Nothing on that link will prove that vgchartz is wrong and the game is overtracked. You can only make guesses and nothing more but you won't find anything there to support your argument because "over 2M" can be anything, it's very inconsistent.

Why would they claim "2.5m"? Just because it's nicer or what? I don't see your point. It's like if you say "it's over 5" and I say "so it's probably 6 or 7 because if it was 8 you would claim 8", it's very inconsistent.

No we dont have any official numbers, but i can do a calculated guess. Im not trying to prove VGC wrong since they're also doing calculated guesses, all im saying is that if VGC has numbers showing 2.4m copies sold, the game itself must have shipped about 2.5m copies.

And logic states that when boasting numbers one always round up, so if they got 2.5m, they'll announce "over 2.5m". They wont go; "Oh look at that, we broke the 2m barrier 2 months ago.. lets do a press release." They're boasting numbers and logic, once again, tells us that they most likely did that when they shipped the last bach of games that took them past 2m.

No we dont have any official numbers, but i can do a calculated guess. Im not trying to prove VGC wrong since they're also doing calculated guesses [Not exactly, they have info and data from retailers, you have nothing, except for small data like the NPD's top 20, so you can't really compare. You can't say that you are making a "calculated guess" if you can't calculate anything, since all you have is small data, what you are doing is just a guess that won't take you anywhere], all im saying is that if VGC has numbers showing 2.4m copies sold, the game itself must have shipped about 2.5m copies. [Who told you that the game must have shipped about 2.5M? Do you have any info or link to support what you are saying? This isn't a "calculated guess" if you don't have any data, it's just a "guess". There is nothing "calculated" here.]

And logic states that when boasting numbers one always round up, so if they got 2.5m, they'll announce "over 2.5m" [Why? Give me a logical reason, not just a 'they should say "over 2.5m" because I want, since 2.5 is higher than 2M'. You can't decide what they will say.] . They wont go; "Oh look at that, we broke the 2m barrier 2 months ago.. lets do a press release."[No, they didn't say that! They aren't saying that they just broked the 2M barrier, they said that they sold more than 2M, and 2.5M is more than 2M. Again, you don't have a link or logical reason to support what you are saying, it's not a calculated guess, it's just what you want they to say because you think that they should use a higher number] They're boasting numbers and logic, once again, tells us that they most likely did that when they shipped the last bach of games that took them past 2m.

1. No they dont get retail numbers. They base it on trends, history, 3rd party numbers, etc etc. Calculated guesses.
2. If the said game has sold 2.4m, they need games on shelves. And real life tells us that you have to have a certain amount of games on shelves if you dont want sell your game world wide.
3. The logical reason is what i just said. If a company can claim 2.5m sold, they will.

Questions..

1. Where did you get the "they get retail numbers" from?
2. How many games do you think they have shipped if they've sold 2.4m?
3. Why wouldn't they claim "over" 2.5m sold? Or why would they wait, and thereby ignore half a million copies sold, to boast lower numbers than what they have actually shipped? Claiming "over 2m" is always 2m in the public eye, its never 2.9m just because that fits the wording "over 2m".

So it was adjusted down ~100k.

Can't argue with that, but the game has been adjusted down 100k.
