Forums - Gaming Discussion - 5th year of the gen and CRYSIS still hasnt been surpassed......

This just in: The average consumer doesn't really care about graphics. That's why the Wii sells like hotcakes, despite the fact that it is just 2 Gamecubes ducttaped together. The HD twins have better graphics and sell worse, and the PC has the best graphics and is basically ignored due to poor sales of games.

Most people buying games don't really care if what they're seeing in 1080p or whatever. In fact, most of them have no idea what that actually means.

This is pretty much true you ask the average consumer the diffrence between 720p and 1080P No clue. Wii has pretty much nullified the notion that kick ass graphics make something more fun. I don,t particulary care for the Wii but nintendo are geniuses for making it and catering to the casual market. I hardly know anyone who ever heard or played Crysis.

Probably because of the cost to develop such a engine that will look better then Crysis. Most companies in the gaming industry are losing money, why throw in more money to simply just look better if it doesn't equate to good sales?

It's just that simple.

It doesn't matter even if it has the best graphics and anyway you are only comparing it to its highest settings

                                       That's Gordon Freeman in "Real-Life"

because crysis was a pc only game designed to be THE BEST, maybe even too much the best, will be surpassed by crysis 2.

Maybe RAGE? or Crysis 2 will top it.......

it'll be interesting to see crysis 2 on consoles but i doubt it will look better than crysis 1 with high setting on PC. Crysis is boring, but technically speaking the graphics haven't been matched by consoles.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Crysis has the worst engine ever. It runs terribly on middle hardware. Bad dev work is bad dev work. Look at GTAIV- its PC requirements are insane.

Crysis has a great engine, it is insane how many things are being calculated. If it doesn't run on middle hardware it doesn't mean it has a bad engine. It's just a little ahead of its time.

The problem with the Crysis engine is that it doesn't scale back very well. But I think it's more of a choice than bad programming. I think it would been a pretty big undertaking to make it scale back more than it already does.

More news just in...you fall into this HD trap you are falling into the shortest media life ever well discounting UMD. My predicition this HD "cycle" will be the shortest ever. Blu Ray will be the windows vista of the physical media world

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

Crysis, one of the most overrated games of all time.
i seriously thought i was going to be blown away with all the talk about it, then it turns out people just like the screenshots.
