The title says it all, This time, instead of Satoshi, it's Miyamoto. Who was the best thing to ever happen to Nintendo?

Gunpei, he built nintendo into what it is while creating its earliest hits. Plus the gameboy is probably the most iconic video game system ever made.

But this decision would be a lot harder if not for Mr. Yokoi's death.

As it is, Miyamoto's influence on game design and system specifications put him as my pick. The only person comparable to him would probably be Yamauchi.

But Yokoi will always have the D-pad.

I will have to call this one a tie. Both have influenced the direction of Nintendo in different ways, one with hardware and thus creating the portable market that we know today and the other created software that has influenced developer within Nintendo and others in the development community.

Miyamoto, can't picture Nintendo without him.

I'd have to say Miyamoto becuase it was Super Mario Bros. that jumpstarted the video game industry, and Nintendo, after the crash of 1983.
