Yes crysis 2 is using the cryengine 3.

http://mycryengine.com/ it does seem pretty badass when you look at the tech involved.

I am okay with many screen shots of the game if it looks like this.

Even though this is not high settings quality of the first game, this still looks very pretty, considering the console versions of Crysis 2 are suppossed to look like this.

As amazing as the screenshots look, I was more impressed with the in-game visuals.  I have never seen another game where the leaves moved naturally, and then clearly move when hit by bullets.  This combined with watching a swath of trees fall after firing a ton of rounds into the forest.

I think this will be one of the games I have to get for my 360. The graphics are just too beautiful to resist.

the cryengine is now my favorite engine. The realistc ways the plant life moves is just crazy, It is very impressive. Games with crazy physics really impress me. That stuff is hard to do. I am playing crysis only on high settings(average 30ish fps) and its pretty much so beautiful.

Also the game is a lot of fun for me. I like the gameplay.  all i know is that crytek are great at making an engine :P

I just hope Crysis 2 is more than a tech demo. Never played the first one, but the shooting and gameplay mechanic looked so generic. I hope they add interesting characters and a compelling storyline to the sequel. Plus multiplayer, which I'm sure they'll have anyway.

Cryengine 3 is not a dumbed down engine. Its ofcourse dumbed down for consoles but also Cryengine 3 on PC>Cryengine2 on PC>Cryengine 3 on Consoles.

Its not that hard to understand but I really read this often that someone says. Yeah but Cryengine 2 is still better because Cryengine 3 runs also on Consoles.

I am really curios what effect the word scalable will have. If its really scalable thee wont be a need for another engine for the next years. If you see how long UE 3 is on the market and this is not a scalable engine then cryengine 3 will be there forever.

I think Cryengine 2 wasnt used by most developers because it is so hardware hungry.
Now they optimize it so it can run also on consoles. Maybe this will lead to a broader use of the engine. What if most future multiplats will use Cryengine 3 ?

I hope this engine is gona be as good as they say and that everybody uses it for new games.

I see your point, and I also think for PC players of the game, it could be good because when Crysis 2 comes out, people won't need an alien like computer just to get a decent framerate out of it.

I hate to burst everyones bubble but this IS NOT crysis 2.....this was just a tech demo from a game they were making that got cancled that they used to show off the new cryengine.

If it is as simple to develop for all 3 at once as they say/show. Then I think many multiplatform games will use this. It just seems so easy.

Crysis looked absolutly breathtaking. I would honestly be surprised if Cryengine 3 looked a whole lot better than Cryengine 2. Im willing to bet that most of the work went toward scalability. I really doubt Crysis 2 will look a whole lot better than Crysis. Most likely it will just run smoother and with less bugs.

As for graphics this is going to be a game to get for PC. The first Crysis (apart from graphics) was an average game and im willing to bet crysis 2 will be no different. Its definitely not worth purchasing on either console IMO.

Long Live SHIO!
