Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo confirms Media Sumit for NA: February 24th

Is anyone expecting Zelda Wii to be unveiled? The magazines could have the first exclusive hands-on, that could be the surprises they were hinting about. If not, GDC seems the right place to officially announce with a proper title and a video, it due to the history of the recent Zelda announcements.

And if none happens, I'm totally sure it will be at E3. Zelda Wii is close.

I don't see it happening till E3. In fact, didn't they say precisely that, that it would be presented at E3?

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Platforming genre will be tough. Fitness is already in lol. Action-Adventure, lest's see what Zelda Wii can do.

Which is the best selling Action-Adventure game of all times? Zelda OoT?

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Thanks J.

Between Mario Kart, Smash Brawl and Wii Sports, Wii can already claim the best selling title in each game's genre (racing, fighting and sports respectively).  I wonder if they'll be able to snag any others?

Actually, has DS managed any?  It had racing with Mario Kart (before Wii took it) and it probably has quiz (Brain-Age), but anything else?

Before too long it should have the best-selling standalone platformer.

It also has the best-selling Fitness title.

They said they hoped to have the game ready to be shown at E3, and I think they meant gameplay and all.

But the official unveil could be done soon, probably during GDC, considering the past announcements. But yeah, I think they are waiting for E3 to reivindicate themselves in the eyes of the whole gaming community and most importantly Nintendo fans, because their past shows left a lot to be desired and lacked that "Megaton" announcement. This is Nintendo's year, I can feel it.

I'd say GTA San Andreas, though that might start some genre debates... for pure adventure, I'd have to imagine Myst is up there.

@jarrod: I don't know if I would put GTA and Zelda in the same genres, but they could be put together.

I'm trying to find differences between both, but I also find similarities. I think GTA is an sandbox-action game, while Zelda is truely an Action-Adventure game. But who knows, I'm confused.

Damn I hadn't thought of that. That is quite an accomplishment on Nintendo's part. Like Trest was saying maybe Action Adventure? If they can somehow make Zelda a bridge title in the vein of Mario Kart it may have a chance, I'd imagine.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

@ trestres

i really see zelda as an E3 announcement, i think it'll be nintendo's centre piece in the trying to reinvigorate the interest of the core
