Forums - Gaming Discussion - I want to feel some poverty or lack of resource in games.

I haven't played a game yet that makes me feel like I need to budget my resources (bullets, money, medicine, etc.). It seems like every game makes it easy to have resources (especially money). I realized this while playing Assassin's Creed 2. At the moment, I have so much money that I don't know what to do with (I've literally bought everything already without an effort). It would be rather exciting if you really have to budget your stuff, and have to worry about running out of something necessary. I guess the only time I really felt a lack was in Resident Evil 1 Director's Cut.. running out of ink ribbons on hardest mode.

Anyway, are you guys aware of a game that makes you feel poverty? I'd really like to try that out.

That would be interesting. In Zelda I always have the opposite problem. I need to find things to buy so my wallet doesn't get too full.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

RE1, you have to conserve every piece of ammo you can or you will need to start the game over. Even the amount of times you can save is quite limited.

And this is why I never was able to beat the game lol and likely the reason people aren't doing that now... hard games really don't sell :S everything is now infinate lives, checkpoints, and simplicity, it's all open, and yes it very much is what I'd call "geared towards casuals" but the people that play them call themselves "core gamers" but the titles are over used and meaningless now lol

Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland

It's the most capitalistic game I ever played. Everything costs money (rupees) in the game. Even your life is measured in rupees.

how true, i love RE1 for it.  RE2 is usually considered the best in the series, and it did improve on many things but it did make the game easier with more ammo and many more saves.  It is still limiting but it's unlikely you will need to start the game over.  The whole casual core gamers do truly exist.  They like games but they suck at them and get frustrated when things are too hard.  That doesn't soudn hardcore to me.
