Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy XIII holds 10 hours of cutscenes

It would seem that taking out towns to explore and any backtracking, that it's all gone to cutscenes. Not a problem because I like FF cutscenes. Only thing is, the if it's cliche Japanese story it could be it's downfall. 10 hours of teenage kids trying to find themselves and love of their life.

If I made it through the long cutscenes of the complexity that is MGS4, arguably the best game I have played this console generation, I think I can manage the cutscenes in Final Fantasy XIII.

exactly this ^

yes, the story should be about some empire invading some poor or "diferent" race that would be great (sarcasm) i you dont like ff go and preorder that new ghost reacon game, meybe now they will invade brazil or nigeria or something.

Any chance of an official thread being made for this yet, enough is enough already and we're still months away.

Whats the next piece of news to be released, Extra booklet to be included in PS3 version perhaps, yawn....

I like FF. Just hope after 12 iterations, they mix the story up a bit. :)

More story and less gameplay is what I like most.

Really? well I want more gameplay then cutscenes.

To be honest, I never played a Final Fantasy game for gameplay, thats the least of my worries. Good story/scenery and music is all that matters to me. But to each their own, right? :P

This. The gameplay in Final Fantasy games were nerver the big attraction to the series, so to think they shpould change now is a little unrealistic. Besides, almost the whole second disc of Xenogears was a big cutscene with boss battles thrown in and it is the greatest RPG ever created to me.

I'm guessing you guys who are saying this have never played Final Fantasy 1.

I've played every single Final Fantasy game, including the spin-offs: Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, etc.. I would consider myself a dedicated Final Fantasy fan. Final Fantasy 3 is my least favorite, because it pretty much had no story at all. I have also played FF1 twice, FF2 twice, FF3 once, FF4 twice, FF5 once, FF6 twice, FF7 twice, FFVIII 5 times, FFIX 5 times, FFX 3 times, and FFXII twice. I'm sorry, but you are very incorrect.

If that was the case you'd know that Final Fantasy 1 wasn't about the story... or as you've mentioned.... FInal Fantasy 3.

Gameplay WAS the big attraction In Final Fantasy 1,2,3 and 5.  (Though the gameplay in 2 ended up sucking.)

For someone who is a dedicated Final Fantasy fan you've made quite the error in base statement.  (Final Fantasy was never about the gameplay.)

Did you not play those games on their original format or something?  Anyone who's got a copy of FF1 sitting around can tell you it wasn't about the story.

I never said Final Fantasy was never about gameplay. You sure you aren't reading the wrong post? And I have played most of them on there original format, except Final Fantasy 3 obviously because the U.S never got it until the DS game came out. I merely said I never played a Final Fantasy game FOR gameplay, obviously the attraction in Final Fantasy's games are gameplay, thats a given. I merely don't care. There really isn't anything to debate about here. You can keep making assumptions about me and what I think, but it will honestly get you nowhere, because I don't care. Like I said before also, I mainly played them for the story/scenery/music the ONLY reason I even beat Final Fantasy 3 for the DS was because I LOVED the Boss theme and the world map theme, some of my favorite songs from the series. I don't have to have the same opinion as you, its good that we have different tastes.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

There is only one teenage character in the party.  There is another that looks like a teenager but isn't.  Everyone else, is either middle age or young adult.
