President of EA Sports Peter Moore has said that the PlayStation Motion Controller (or Arc, or Wand) offers a different experience than the Nintendo Wii, and that they are watching the device with 'great interest'.

Speaking to CVG, Moore said;

"I've seen the technology working. I think it's going to be a great complement to what's out there. Sony will put their collective technology and marketing might behind it.

It's a different experience than Wii and we're watching it with great interest. As you might imagine, we're working on stuff - in particular on what sports can bring to it."

The PlayStation Motion Controller is set to release this fall, and Sony say it will offer 'an extensive line-up of exciting software titles' - Whether that line-up includes an EA Sports title, we'll have to wait and see.

If PES on the Wii is anything to go by, Motion Controls on the ps3 could be amazing.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Is the console different or the controller different?
Do the HD graphics working with motion control make it different?
That would be my guess.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

My guess is that you need to hold the Wii mote in a specific direction. I.E. sensor facing the screen.
The playstation arc has a camera tracks the ball in 3 dimensions.

That sounds really different to me.

For example in Wii bowling, the game tracks the movement of the motion sensors in the remote.

The arc may be able to do that as well... but the camera may also be able to pic up the motion of the arc ball as you move the controller. You could track the wind up, angle, speed of the thrown ball, and when the ball is released by analyzing the movement of the ball, instead of relying on the movement of gyroscopes.

D'Oh.

Sorry for being stupid. I forgot about the camera. That does open up a lot of other possibilities.

I was not trying to stealth troll or anything (if I was, I would have been much more subtle). I was just forgetful. Must be all the snow (35 cm -- 14 inches where I am).
