Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Should I Buy a Xbox 360?

Ok I am a Nintendo fan here and have never given money to either Microsoft or Sony but now I am thinking of getting a 360 now (used) from a private seller. This doesn't give me any warranty but I think I am getting a good deal.

I am getting a Xbox 360, 60 Gig Hard Drive and Skate 1...

Should I buy it? I am worried that later on Microsoft may bring out a new completely different console or something similar like Nintendo did with the DSi XL.

What do you guys think and also what games and accessories should I get? I am already getting a headset and then I am also getting a 1 year XBOX Live.

imo never get a used 360 unless it comes with a warranty

off topic: why do this thread now? it'll probably cost you in the bigget nin fan
on topic: used? have you heard of failure rates and red ring of dead?

How much? If they are charging you more than 100 I would just buy a new system!

Well if your into fps shooting games then go for it! But beware of the RROD... Thats how I lost my 360 :(

Don't listen to any of these people. You can buy an used xbox and there is no risk. If you buy a used xbox make sure it has a date of 2008+ and you have 1-2 years of no questions warranty. Just make sure that it hasn't been opened by looking at the seal behind the faceplate...

Being that you are in CAnada, you warranty should not be hard to take advantage of in case something does go wrong.

Xbox has a lot of quality games, probably most out of all 3 systems this gen and the cool thing about them is that they are dirt cheap for older classic titles. Things you need to get to enjoy xbox to the fulest are:

HD TV...a 32 inch 720p Dynex does the job wonderfully if you don't have one. Best buy had them for 299 few weeks ago.

Online servince with xbox live. You get 1 free month with your xbox but after thats its 40-50 bucks a month, depending the deal you find on kijiji, craigslist

Is that a new game?

If the used 360 is cheap enough then go for it. It may fail, but if you don't pay too much and you get a reasonable number of hours of gaming out of it then it won't be much of a loss. Or it may give you no troubles at all, which will mean you've got a real bargain.

I wouldn't worry about MS coming out with something that makes this 360 obsolete for at least 2 years. They might come out with a superior 360 sku (built in wireless, packed in NATAL, 500Gig HDD ???), but since you're not likely to be in the market for the latest sku it's hardly relevant, the games will still play on your 360. In any case it's got a big back catalogue of excellent games, so don't worry about future games because existing games will keep you going long enough to make the purchase worth your while. New games are simply adding to the already big pile of game's you'll probably never get through, given it'll only be your part-time console.

I think that's a great deal, you should get it for sure. I don't think a New Xbox will be out anytime soon.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

I picked up a 360 in December and love it. I also have a ps3 and wii but use the 360 most. 360 has netflix HD which I use daily and I also love the 1vs 100 trivia show. I'd say look at the games coming out this year and decide which system you want. And rrod isn't really an issue with newer models made after December 2008 I believe.

Opinionated response: Yes, absolutely, my favorite console this gen. Best online, largest library of quality games and RPG's, I love the controller.

Non-Opinionated response: Do the games the system has interest you? Are you O.K. with paying for online because this is where the 360 shines in many ways? Everyone takes a chance with a used 360 possibly outside of warranty......will you?

Cr33py P3rv covered everything else rather well.
