At this rate it's going to settle with a Meta of mid-80s, whilst I consider 90+ to be "critical acclaim", and so as far as I'm concerned it is.

Well so far it's on high 80's, so it could go both ways. 

Even if it doesn't, it wouldn't be the first FF to miss the 90's mark. FF in itself is not the highest rated JRPG series, but it is the most consistant.

Anyway, I think that suggesting that FFXIII is struggling to get acclaim is a bit pre-emptive at this stage, as there are a lot of venues and reviews still to come.

I rembember the controversy that FFX made in the day. It was the first FF game without an overworld map, the rage and flames of hate it generated were massive.

I'll say that a bigger deep gameplay is needed, more towns and good characters. This generation has been quite harsh with JRPGs because games like Oblivion, DragonAge and Fallout have settled a standar that Final Fantasy XIII doesn't have. In fact I'm expecting harsher reviews from other sites.

I hate this 100 point system, for me IGN and reviews like these should settle with the 5 point, the 10 point or 20 point system.(gamespot is 20 point, eurogamer 10 point and X-play is 5 point for those wondering)

Gamespot is 20 point because the scores range from 0-10 and the minimal significant value is .5, so 10/.5=20 which means there is theoretically 20 different scores that can be awarded.

OT: I don't care much for FF13 and 7 is considered a solid game by some scoring standards, but these scores demonstrates some inconsistence.

The site that I almost always am right about predicting scores is Gamespot, and my prediction for it sits at 8.0
