Actually it isn't. 

Gameinformer just gave it a 9.25, and most import reviews are on 85/90.

Just look at Kasz response. FFXII is rated above 90, yet it also got some very low reviews. It happens the same with all FF's, and it will happen the same with Versus. 

At this rate it's going to settle with a Meta of mid-80s, whilst I consider 90+ to be "critical acclaim", and so as far as I'm concerned it is.

Well so far it's on high 80's, so it could go both ways. 

Even if it doesn't, it wouldn't be the first FF to miss the 90's mark. FF in itself is not the highest rated JRPG series, but it is the most consistant.

Anyway, I think that suggesting that FFXIII is struggling to get acclaim is a bit pre-emptive at this stage, as there are a lot of venues and reviews still to come.
