Huh? That's, er, surreal...

The thing about this is, he was coming out with good points and he was speaking very powerfully and eloquently until he came to talk about the woman who died.

Almost immediately after bringing up the note he shrank, his points had less impact and he started umming and ahhing, as though he was fully aware of using the woman as prop was very selfish.

If he hadn't have brought her up I would have said good speech, but I agree halogamer, this is bad and I think Obama knew that.

To be honest, I'm wandering if his spin doctor put him up to it. I guess we don't know.

No he just read it off the teleprompter as he always does and always will do until Jan 2013 at least.  His entire presidency is scripted talking points.  That reminds me that today would have been the 99th bday of Reagan.  He would put Obummer to shame.

I don't even know what to believe about Obama's speeches, some sources say he reads from a teleprompter, other sources say he works on all of his speeches until minutes before he goes up to the podium.

I doubt he does.  Jon Favreau does most of the work as Director of Speechwriting.  Besides, Obama can't waste his time for us lowly citizens (we cling to guns and religion with antipathy most of the time ) 

Obama is a scripted salesman of BS in the end. Anyway, I am going to bed since I was up all night.  Out.

The problem is he is telling a message that just is not true. In the past, what's worked for him is to lie about something enough, that people will just start thinking it's true. Like 4-5 months ago when he said the recession was over.

He keeps saying the other side has offered no ideas, and wants to do nothing about the problems of the US, and that's just a lie. It's not a misconception on his part, it's a bold face lie.

This kind of stuff, over the long haul, just does not help you. He is going down hill fast.

That doesn't really address my point, I asked if he came up with the idea to use her as a prop, or if it was a spin doctor. Whether he read it off a teleprompter or not is unimportant, the vast majority of politicians have scripted speeches. 

Conservative policies got us into this mess. The only "ideas" they offer would either do nothing or make things worse.

Obama was being kind when he said that they offered nothing.  What he needs to do is grab a baseball bat and start busting balls.

Uhh... I worked on Obama's campaign but met him 2 years earlier. I don't really expect him to remember my name either... dude has a lot of names and faces to remember.
