The final code of Heavy Rain has arrived and, let me tell you, it´s amazingly impressive. We all knew the game was going to look great from all the screenshots we saw but the preview build really got me excited about the release. I spoke to Sony´s Public Relations team and they assured me that Heavy Rain´s graphics would top Uncharted 2: Among Thieves — now, that´s not easy. So far, the closest thing I´ve seen to Uncharted 2 graphics is Mass Effect 2, that was until now.
Heavy Rain is probably the most photo-realistic game to be available on console to date. The amount of detail and polish that has been put into this game is jaw-dropping — this is High Definition gaming at it´s best. You can count the imperfections in a character´s complexion: see the pores, freckles, wrinkles, and even scars. The image is crisp and clean, you´ll be amazed at the fact that it is a console only game. To top that the developers put the same amount of detail into the environment. The only real let down with Heavy Rain is the noticeable screen-tears; though they do not take away from the experience they certainly do get in the way of those AAA graphics.
Heavy Rain is, without a doubt, the best looking game across all platforms so far. There´s nothing going to top this game in February, maybe in March (God of War III). Regardless, if you are all about the graphics and would like a game that truly showcases how great the PlayStation 3´s graphics can really be then you must pick up a copy of Heavy Rain on the 23rd of February.
Our review will be posted as soon as the embargo lifts on the 10th of February, so stick around!
