PC gaming is cool and all but isn't it losing popularity? It seems almost nobody I know uses PC but everyone has a 360 or PS3.

If anything, it's doing better than ever. Some nice exclusives, the best versions of a lot of multi-plats and a thriving indie scene. Steam sales grew by over 200% last year and its user base increased to more than 25 million. As a whole, the platform grew very healthily in 2008, and is expected to have done so in 2009 as well.

PC gaming has a few things that make it great, I prefer consoles though mostly because of their simplicity and an actual company serving as the big boss of the machine..

PC gaming is cheaper (games are, a good gaming PC shouldnt cost much more then 500USD/400 Euros)

PC games look slightly better (sometimes alot)

PC games often have dedicated servers online.

It's nice isn't it, better graphics and better deals on software.

Actually yes, PC gaming is getting less popular but mostly because people just get almost all games pirated from the internet.. it gives people no motivation to finish the game.

Steam sales are probably up because Digital Distribution is growing and steam now often has great deals.

PC has pretty much always had superior versions but nowadays there's quite many games that aren't on PC that are on PS360.

That's why it would also help to do graphic design or video editing since you'd need decent hardware anyway :P

I don't get your point there.  Retail is being replaced by digital distribution, so it might not be as visible as console sales, but all available figures show the platform is growing, simple as that. Piracy's pretty much the same as it ever was, but heavily pirated games like the Sims and Crysis are still selling in their millions. FYI, according to one of the largest private trackers, XBox 360 piracy at the moment is running at roughly 20-30% of the level of PC piracy, so it's getting to be a significant problem on that platform as well.

That's all the PC has going for it anymore though. Every other genre can be done well on consoles.
