Gears was good, but a bunch of guys built like they've been fed HGH since birth, running around blowing shit up, and then talking about there emotions as if they were a 14 year old girl . . .

U2, easily. Its kinda like the difference between fast food and fine dining.

gears 2 for sure. uncharted is good but gears 2 just owns. My friends and I still play gears regularly and its like 2 years old.

Don't confuse 'sense of realism' with realistic though, they're different things.

I'll go as far as to say Uncharted 2 is a graphically superior, more mainstream, more polished experience. But there's something infinitely cooler (to me) about taking on 100 bad guys while riding a giant vehicle, getting eaten by a giant worm, or fighting a beasts the size of a house. I guess I just like the sci-fi atmosphere more.

I prefer Star Wars to Indiana Jones, even though I love both series.

You realize that there is a horde mode in UC2 right? the co-op stuff goes to gears 2 obviously because it has the full story co-op vs mission modes in uc2, but I doubt you've spent much time with UC2 online if you didn't even know that there is a horde mode aka arena mode.

Single player story mode -> Uncharted 2
Co-op campaign -> Gears of War 2
Multiplayer -> Gears of War 2

Gears 2 or Uncharted 2?

hmm... I'm talking from a perspective that if I had to own just one of the two, which would I own?

Well since the story in Uncharted 2 is mediocre with a good delivery somewhat but some poor continuity and difficulty to suspend disbelief and Gears 2 is also a mediocre story with average delivery but with good continuity and somewhat a better ability to suspend disbelief, well I have to say its about even.

Graphics? Well they both look pretty good, however with Uncharted 2 theres that Uncanny valley effect going on.

Multiplayer? Instant win for Gears of War for local play vs none.

Gameplay? The polish and variety of Gears of War 2 shooting is better, its a better shooter at heart and I didn't really enjoy the platforming parts of Uncharted 2, technically I would say that Gears of War is objectively better at this and subjectively better at this metric.

Overall Uncharted 2 is a rental or a cheap $20 purchase nearer the end of the generation and Gears of War 2 is a game which deserves to be bought new @ $60 U.S.D. played through about 5-10 times before selling used because of local play, its so much better value!

Classic PS3 versus 360 thread. Uncharted 2 gets my nod ahead of Gears of War 2. More enjoyable game. Gears of War 2 sells more and is more popular than Uncharted 2 by a long way.

Uncharted 2 or Mass effect 2 would be more interesting thread. Wait IGN have already done that.
