Can I be banned, too? THESE NUMBERS SUCK!! LOL, J/K.

Seriously, though, I think it's pretty easy to deduce what happened. Considering there were some shortages of the PS3 (at least in America), Sony probably shipped a whole crap load at the end of December to keep up with demand, and then some. Now IDK about the PSP numbers, they could be wrong, or Sony and retailers may have just overestimated the demand for the Go.

Though I do have 2 criticisms (well actually they are suggestions) for the site.

1. Just for the new guys, there should be a small disclaimer below the bar graphs that states that these are sold to customer numbers.

2. For the more hardcore fans, there should be an article posted if the site is adjusted by more than a set number, say 250,000. It doesn't even need to be long or greatly detailed, just to quickly explain the adjustments.

I think that would greatly cut down on any, if not all, threads about this topic.

P.S. WE GOT GURLS ON THIS SITE...OMG!! Now I can stalk them like guys do on Home. And it will lead...NOWHERE!!

1. It's not our numbers that people get confused with, it's the numbers Sony, MS, or whoever give us in press releases. If anything, a disclaimer should say "not to be confused with press release or shipped numbers"

2. The community is so aware of games and systems which are adjusted even 1,000 units that even if there wasn't an official thread from the website (which there almost always is), there would be a thread by a forum member about it.

While your logic makes sense, disclaimers don't stop people from doing things. Simply speaking, people don't read. In fact, if you read any of the posts in this thread, I bet that 9 times out of 10, the answer to their accusations were in the post(s) directly above theirs. That's how it goes. It is a constant endless loop of newbies coming to the site, seeing a discrepancy between sold vs shipped and, thinking the two should be the same, go on to protest and flame the site while countless others try to fruitlessly explain how it works. Then it turns to laughter, people get banned etc etc.

I don't think this thread really has any indication of things to come. Brett and the other mods often go on banning sprees for strange/hilarious reasons. I think ioi banned everyone who said his favorite f1 racer wouldn't win the match. When it comes down to it, our mods are friendly and like to mess around just as much as we do. Bans aren't the worst thing to happen. I think he just did this out of frustration and put forth a direct challenge to anyone who argued. I think the future rule will be more lenient than this, but it WILL close that spam loophole.

Is this thread the most hostile a vgc thread has been.........the meltdowns here are legendary.

I agree with your points, but it's the comparision with VGC numbers to other source's numbers where the confusion sets in. Well, at least with new guys. Since most companies post shipped numbers, people come here and see these bar graphs and get angry. I mean when I first came here I too was confused, until a more frequent visitor informed me that those were sold to customer. That's why a disclaimer would at least cut down on half the BS. Plus, it's just one quick sentence that could be put up there and never have to be touched again. I know some ignorant people wouldn't read it, but more intelligent newcomers would.

Besides, I think you missed my most important point. GIRLS ARE ON THIS SITE, MAN.

This reminds me that if I were to design a fighter aircraft, I'd like an autocannon not relying on pyrotechnic cocking charges, like most I saw around, derived from late nazi projects and still in use, but on electric or hydraulic cocking, like some gatlings, but without the huge weight and spin up delay disadvantages of gatlings, particularly when caliber exceeds 20mm (the 30mm GAU Avenger mounted on the A-10 weighs as an Harley-Davidson the gun alone, excluding feed system, drum and ammo)... OMG, I derailed again!!!

Well if bringing any of this stuff up anymore is now a "bannable" offense, how about modifying the forum rules. Because everyone won't come in here READING this thread, and that's ignorant to think otherwise. It's almost the same as the unwritten "Don't tell people to block the ads, blah blah blah" forum rule. If it isn't a forum rule, and it's buried in some thread.... How exactly do people know again?
