PS3s have been sold out consistently in my area since about a week and a half before Christmas (which is something I and others have been saying since that time, yet many often ignore it).

They aren't withholding anything for anything.  They're simply struggling to catch up to the demand built up before Christmas.

Wiis are sold out for a similar reason.  This was the biggest holiday yet for both consoles, and for the ps3 it was its biggest holiday immediately following a massive spike from the launch of the Slim.  Upping production to meet seriously increased demand can be troublesome, especially if you're Nintendo who actually decreased Wii production earlier this year.

To sell more digital downloads, MS and Sony could find productive to increase the minimum HDD size.
Nintendo could find productive to include WM+ in standard controllers, to prevent being surpassed by future competitor motion controls' precision. Or maybe offer two sets of WiiMote+Nunchuck standard on each Wii, to increase value without cutting price.

Where do you live superchunk? It could just as well be traffic chaos due to heavy snow that's choked the shipments to your town lol.

i hope the ps3 has different coloured models coming out, they've got them in japan so why not sell them else where? i think they'd sell well.

Realistically, they could all have new hardware in the pipeline and there could be silent releases associated with them because the changes are (mostly) meaningless to you ... I'm thinking (mostly) of piracy protection, and all three companies could use the slow time of the year to release a revised version of their hardware in an attempt to limit the spread of piracy.

However, you're probably right and its just supply issues. I'm probably just looking to buy at the wrong time. Ah well. At least I got my TV, I'll still wait until after SuperBowl to buy PS3.

i hope your wrong for the simple sake that I bought a PS3 slim a few weeks ago, and if some new cool model comes out now and it turns out that I want it.....Ill be pissed
