Today is a horrible day in the history of cinema.  Today is the U.S. debut of From Paris With Love.  It features a fat, foul mouthed, potato headed, hoop earring wearing, and goateed John Travolta running around with an uzi in each hand pretending that he's an action hero.  Well, I guess it's better than him pretending that he's an actor.  A bunch of explosions look to hide the fact that he hasn't appeared in anything worth mentioning since Pulp Fiction.  

The worst thing of all about this movie though is that it rips off one of the greatest titles of all time.  That title is From Russia, With Love.  For those of you who don't know; From Russia, With Love is the name of the fantastic Ian Fleming novel featuring James Bond and also happens to be the name of one of the top Bond movies ever made.  Mr. Fleming must be rolling in his grave.

I repeat- John Travolta is not James Bond!!!   

I doubt that, apart from the title the movie is mirrored after Bond. I mean, really, you believe that they intentionally go for a James Bond vibe? I have only seen the trailer and from the looks of it, it looks more like a Jacky Chan movie then a James Bond movie. I doubt people will relate this to "From Russia with love".

John Travolta isn't Jackie Chan either.  Jackie does all of his own stunts.  Travolta needs 50 people to do his hair.  He doesn't even do that.

Anybody that's ever heard the title From Russia, With Love will know that this movie is ripping off it's title.

It's only a title. Be glad it isn't the plot or that it tries to give winks to the movie.
But I have to admit.. John Travolta, and his voice did not really suit the role. I would've much sooner seen Bruce Willis in that role or something. Or Jason Statham.

According to what I understand, Travolta is supposed to be a CIA agent which is pretty much the U.S. equivalent of the British secret service. :o

Yeah.  I'd choose Bruce Willis or Jason Stratham over Travlota in most anything.

I love you Amp, and this thread too. From Russia With Love is amazing (the novel was one of the best things I've ever read).

OH PLEASE GOD NOOOOOOOOO, Someone shoot Travolta and who ever made this movie. Talk about destroying a classic!!!!!!!!

From Russia With Love was one of the best James Bond ever and will be remembered for many years to come. That Travolta movie will be forgotten in 6 months.
