Forums - Sony - Is my Ps3 broken?

I had my ps3 plugged into an extention cord and it accidently unplugged while I was playing it. When I turned it back on it said I turned off the system incorrectly and not to do it again. Now My Ps3 is unusually slow in the XMB, only the system cross bar is showing anything. Videos/Games/Music are all blank and loading forever. I can't even turn off my Ps3 it just constantly flashes the green light with a solid blue light.

Anyone have any advice? It's a 80gb Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle that has B/C so I would rather not trade it in.

I had a similar problem and freaked out, I just left it alone for a while, forcefully turned it off and it worked again. Probably won't work for you though...I was probably just lucky.

There is nothing wrong with your PS3, just let it run for a few hours with nothing else running. Then power it off the proper way. When it boots back up it should run like normal. It just need to work on the temp files it uses to run.

Just turn it on and leave it on? Should I log into my account first? I left it on for 2 hours and tryed turning it off normally and it just kept flashing and acted like it was about to turn it off but an hour later it never turned off.

Yes, log into your profile. If all else fails, do a backup and then do use the PS utility to wipe the hard drive and it will re-install the OS form the firmware. There is always a chance that the OS got corrupted, but he PS3 itself should be just fine.

I can't even access my system settings now. So I don't think i can re format.

Access safe mode and rebuild the database
