Forums - Sales Discussion - Mag sold 198k with around 250k preorders?

Wtf...Did so many cancel  it after some dissapointing reviews?

Not everyone who pre-orders it buys it at the same day. People might want to buy it the day after or maybe they've got a busy day on the release day.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

mario maker

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

Some possible explanations:
1. Either number is wrong.
2. People canceled their orders...
3. People only pre-ordered to get Beta code.
4. Some pre-ordered and have not even picked up the order...

Also, the number also includes people who bought without preordering so the gap is really even greater.

My god, people how old are you that you don't understand such a simple things... Do you remember when MAG preorder numbers went sky rocket - when Sony offered beta for those who preorder the game - from now on put the pieces together on your own...

What about all those people that pre-ordered the game after getting into the Beta? I know i did, and i'm sure many others did too.

I think demand for the game was overstated/overassumed here on the website by a large amount.

50,000-125,000 people don't cancel preorders.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I believe those pre-orders were from Amazon. Though I may mistaken.

Reviews are really important for a game like this. It affect how many people will buy it, so lower reviews means less purchases which means less people playing online

The pre-order numbers probably aren't quite as reliable as the other numbers. They are most likely based on a smaller sample size.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

That's the only explanation, really. These american pre-order numbers on vgchartz are pure estimates, so they are off quiet often.

And I dont get this whole "it got bad reviews" thing going on around here, 75 metascore is solid enough.

Honestly, it is not.

Gamers these days (PS360 especially) demand something at least above 80%. Anything below that will suffer the consequences. THere are exceptions to every rule of course, but in order to get a 300k+ debut, you are going to need some review heat, or a great ass brandname.
