Forums - Sony - Sony Announces Q3 Results (PS3 is at 33.5 million) - Net income is $861 mln

And with highly anticipated PS3 exclusive games like God of War 3, The Last Guardian and Gran Turismo 5 getting released this year the PS3 software line-up for 2010 is already anticipated to be the platform's strongest year in software so far, so the gap with the XBox 360 seems likely to rise further this year.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

Are we gonna get adjustments?

Oh... and for the the number arguement...

Ps3 - 1.65 million (With confirmed shortages in NA)
360 - 1.73 million (With no shortages)

Is perfectly fine. Whether there is stock on shelves or not has nothing to do with Sony's financials. All that matters is the difference between consoles ordered by retailers and the number which have already been sold by retailers.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

here we go again... this ha sbeen flogged to death. it is shipped. they changed the word but also the definition of the word.

it is NOT shipped

read the gaf thread:

"numbers have been changed from shipped to retailer, to recorded sales"

what does that mean?

IOI HIMSELF said SONY (when stating the PS3 had 31M world wide, wile the 360 had 39M, were saying its sellthrough, despite never using that word) now that the number is HIGHER, everyone is jumping on the "its shipped" bull siht..

THERE IS NO CONCRETE PROOF that it is not actual consumer sales.

@ kowenicki: surely you can understand their problems with the numbers.

Things were changed based on a previous chart, not now, so that strikes a lot of people as odd (can't blame them, despite ioi trying to explain).

On the other hand: if the 360 had this big of a difference, I'd argue that you (and others with 360 affinity) would also be questioning some things (whether they'd be different in their approach doesn't matter)

while us with no console affinity would find yall crazy no matter what it was.

ugh... How long have you been here? In the Neogaf thread it says since 2007. did you forget the change was from "shipped" as in produced... to sales as in sales to consumers? It is not sellthrough, why would do that on financial reports? that has no bearing on how much money YOU made. What do you think they sold 3 million in janurary or something?

I've been here since 2006, but that has nothing to do with it..

When sony reported 31 Million hardware sales as of DEC 1, ioi himself stated "its likely these are sellthrough numbers"

now that the number is HIGHER than what VGC states, its said that the numbers are shipped figures?

We honestly don't even know if its shipped or not.. just because we ASSUME its shipped, does not mean it is..

we don't have concrete proof that its shipped, either way, its undetracked by maybe near million units. Because there is no way there are well over 2 million PS3's on shelves.

Ugh my god... your really starting to act like your old self here.

Take a deep breath and let the reality soke in.

You CAN'T put sellthrough data on Financial reports.

It's of no value to the investors.

Furthermore, if they changed reporting methods again... it would be stated in the financial records... which it isn't.  All that is there is the old message from 2007 where they went from produced (what they called shipped) to sold to retailers (what they called sold.)

It's basic common sense stuff you should remember since it's had to been covered since like... well 2006.

Since when is GAF a more reliable source than Sony's own financial reports?

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Actually the GAF thing proves Leo-J wrong too... he's just unintenionally misreading it because he wants PS3 to do better.
