TWRoO said: Currently Firefox 3.5.... but I am considering changing to Opera because of this shitty memory leak. Firefox no longer closes properly for me and stays running in the background until I shutdown and Windows closes it for me, or I have to use the task manager to end the process. |
Delete your Firefox profile (save your bookmarks and passwords first using password exporter addon), it will then make a new profile and will work perfectly, I had the same problems a few times in the past and it fixes it everytime!
Firefox profile is in "C Drive-->Users-->your name--> AppData-->Roaming-->Mozilla-->Firefox"
That will fix the memory leak issue, the not closing correctly issue, slow loading and startup issue etc.
Internet Explorer 8. Its pretty good to use, although you can say that i'm to old to use Google's software =)
FF3.x>IE8>IE6 (I skipped IE7 completely), so, like I have done for years, I still use IE only for Windows Update.
By the way, using a unified account, FF offers me the advantage of resuming the previous session and access and store bookmarks independently from what OS I was using before and I'm currently using, be it Linux or Windows, using IE I would lose this precious feature.
Why does anyone here use anything besides chrome or firefox? Honestly the other browers are absolute shit...
Long Live SHIO!

You might wanna try running Firefox in safe mode with extensions disabled first before doing something so drastic - almost every perceived issue with it is actually a result of end users bloating it up with shittastic extensions. =/
I use Firefox, loved Chrome, but the Google privacy issues made me change my mind.
Overall, the 3.6 version is quite good, i use it even on my Workstation:
AMD Durion 1.6Ghz
512MB
WinXP
