Forums - Nintendo Discussion - De Blob 2 announced for 2011

http://kotaku.com/5463631/thq-returns-to-saints-row-darksiders-and-de-blob-next-year

"The biggest surprise for me is a follow-up to de Blob, which remains one of my favorite titles on the Nintendo Wii even now, after a year and four months of new Wii titles have come and gone. I didn't think the game had done well enough to warrant a sequel, but I am tremendously excited to learn otherwise."

Also Saint Rows 3 and Darksiders 2

Okay I love everyone here now!

Former something....

Ah sweet. I loved De Blob. One of those fun unique games of this generation. Glad that it did well enough to get a sequel. But kinda surprised the writer over there didn't know it did well enough, I mean THQ constantly mentioned that it was doing well when talking about their company during that timeframe. Oh wait, it's Kotaku, guess I shouldn't be surprised haha.

Ya bastard, beat me to it. :(

What the...didn't expect that. de Blob was a decent game with an interesting concept. I hope they fix some issues in the sequel (I had some jumping problems...). I want more funny cutscenes as well.

de Blob 1 was a great game with a couple flaws. If those were fixed, it could be a 90% series. Now we can confirm it succeeded, 700,000 copies later.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Really anyone who wants a hug I will give to you right now!

Yea I guess for Wii games, even the devs confirming it was a success a year earlier isn't enough at times.  But yea it was a great game and an inspiring platformer from a new team that just had a few controls flaws and hiccups.  Hopefully with the sequel they can fix all that and expand futher.  They have a fan out of me from the first so can't wait fo rthe second.  Also glad they've waited awhile to make a sequel, as many make the mistake of trying to release one a year.  Think this was a good idea.

why give so many anounvements so randomly?
they could have saved them....

Financial report more than likely.  In these you like to brag about success of course and keep investors and potential ones happy.  Therefore you tell them why it is a good idea to keep or start investing in them.  First part is of course showing financial success.  Second part is proving future financial succes.  To do that, show what ya got, and in gaming that means naming off your big titles to come.

That means, almost always, you see big announcement during times when gaming companies are making their financial statements, especially after the Christmas season as it is the start of a new year and of course at the end of fiscal years.  Remember Nintendo had 2 big announcements with theirs, namely Last Story and Xenoblade.
