its weird with western reviewers these days,,, at one point they say that they are thirsty for JRPGs, and at the other when they receive good ones, they begin to be be picky and lower the score for unknown and unrealistic reasons,, WESTERNERS ARE SPOILED BECAUSE OF WRPGs, they want all JRPGs to be like WRPGS and act like them! This game has (according to reviewers) great gameplay, huge maps, huge number of sidequests, decent graphics (great CG), and a decent story,,,, i mean what else is to be desired ??? add to that Level5 added a huge online portion !

This game is made by Level 5,, any JRPG fan like myself will not even care for reviews !

post of the day!! I agree with everything you just said.

it's the future of handheld

That is precisely why I will judge this game myself. The battle system is a offline system of FFXI basically. and I LOVE FFXI!

There have been quite a few jrpgs that got poor scores this gen that I enjoyed very much. I dont know if some reviewers are expecting a Final Fantasy VII every time or what, but I'm still hyped for wkc and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Will be honest Mass Effect 1 and 2 are the only WRPGs ever that I have actually enjoyed.

Well not sure if you can really consider ME2 a WRPG. Lol. But good game non-the-less!

It definitely seems like JRPG's are all-around receiving lower scores. Maybe it has to do with the fact that the genre has more less stayed the same since the last generation. (although have do have more of an action slant in more and more games) If Lost Odyssey is released last generation, I have a feeling that it's average score would be closer to 9.

But at its core, the genre has generally stayed static for years. So for people who love the genre, a lot of them are still liking these games despite less critical acclaim. Whereas the more casual fan who has been playing all these Western Style games, they are finding JRPG's slower moving and less exciting then those from the West.

Look at Demon's Souls, that received a 29/40 from Famitsu but has a 89 average from Western Reviewers. It's also a game that looks like a game released out West.

in all honesty i take more note in the "customer" scores more than the mags or websites, as they are in the same situation as me; there just a normal person playing it socially. and those reviews seem to be in the late 80s. so yes im still buying this game day 1.

yes, because they are never biased

I still imported it despite KNOWING it would get such scores beforehand.

WKC is the perfect filler before the king arrives on March 9th 2010!

Wait... What? Is Persona 5 releasing 9th of march 2010?

OT: I'm more hyped than before actually, just waiting for it to come out here.

Cute, but don't insult FFXIII in that manner again or I'll summon a chocobo to tickle you.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I was going to purchase this game but not anymore; it's a rental for now. I don't like what I've read from multiple reviews.

- Terrible story & characters (from the same people who brought us Rogue Galaxy)
- tedious battle system (it does look slow and boring)
- multiplayer has flaws and have high level ranks.

I'm still getting it, just can't afford it Day 1.

This. I'll probably pick it up eventually when it's dirt cheap.
