Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Gladiator AD renamed, given release window

If Sega wanted a Wii fighter, they should've ported Psy-Phi imo.  One of Yu Suzuki's last game at the company. ;_;

I rather the old one...

Those screens look pretty hideous.
I kind of hate HVS. What have they done to deserve their reputation/earn the hype their games get?

Pretty much nothing.  The Conduit was painfully mediocre.

It was because they were the first developer saying that a) they were tired of developers treating the Wii like a second rate development platform, and b) they were going to give the system their all.

Unfortunately they hadn't had much experience making those kinds of games, mainly decent by unremarkable licensed games (they didn't make the buggy 50 Cent Bulletproof game on the consoles, but the merely okay one on the PSP), so The Conduit had solid controls and effects, but was merely decent in other things. But again, this was their first such game, and I don't believe in the "This sucked, so stop trying" idea, and apparently neither to they.

This may be why they are taking their time with The Grinder, to make sure it's a better game.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

After reading the IGN hands-on preview this had better release as a budget title. No online, no WM+, few characters and levels. It looks better than the similar WW title launching about the same time but not $40 better, maybe $10-20 better though. And Rage of the Gladiator does have WM+.

As for Sega publishing this Gladiator game from HVS,it looks awful and HVS still can't design and still likes bland names,Gladiator AD sounded much better.

Wonder what Conduit 2 will be named "The Pipe" ugh..

It reviewed a game that isn't coming out for months?

huzzah?

Roman mythology Punch Out? I'm not a big fan of Punch Out in the first place.

Though I love their Qauntum 3 engine. It's produced fantastic fx. Though their artstyle still has some needed work, but it's better than The Conduit.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

And if the game does have kickass gameplay with Motion+ (still hoping on that), loads of stuff to do, and you're having lots of fun playing, will the graphics really matter?

I had completely forgotten about this game.

Sorry missed the 'p' in 'preview'.

It's confirmed that this game has neither WM+ nor online (nor blood).

The stated reason being that since you use the nunchuk and the wiimote for attacks having MW+ for only one hand didn't seem right.

The unstated reason being Sega wanted to make this as broadly appealing as possible and likely didn't want to scare any sales by making people think they'd need WM+ to play it. (pure conjure on my part)

This game looks like the Sega marketing department watered it down so much it's lost the essence of whatever (limited) potential it had.  Might as well made it Sonic Gladiatorial Combat, would've sold better.
