Forums - Sales - UK console sales goign forward.

The reason that the slim isn't bundled is because it's a new design with a lower price point and so initially people will buy it anyway as the perceived value is better. After a month or so (at a guess) and definately before christmas, the new PS3 model will be bundled to mantain the higher sales. So the sales will spike for a month but I'm fairly sure that it won't just be a case of 'normal service will resume' after that.

The initial spike will be big, that's 100% for sure. The original Phat sold 600k in just two days in Europe. As long as the supply is there, the first week numbers will be huge. Sony's hardware is uber frontloaded though, so the numbers will be more modest by the time the holidays arrive.

Also the 25 pound difference between the Slim and the PSP Go is quite disturbing.

@crazyhorse

but the arcade is almost half price and the elite will be £50 or £60 less... PS3 wont move nearer to the 360 in the UK... I am sure of it.

I agree but I think the PS3 will sell better than you suggested in that we will see sales at a higher level than they are now for a sustained period of time and not just a brief spike. I also think it's possible that the PS3 might outsell the 360 for the rest of this calander year, although not at the volumes which would be required for it to catch up (or even get close).

So I dont see much of a change other than a spike for the PS3 over the next couple of weeks.... up to a month. After that normal service will resume.

I dont think you are taking into account the hype that will surround the slim from now until Xmas.

I would predict much higher sales for PS3.

Cool story bruh. I cannot see sales for the PS3 going back down to the levels they are at now once the Slim releases. Sure it will not be a huge bump but an increase is an increase. People acting as though the Playstation brand is dead in jolly old England and that is not the case.

I don't understand.

Why does it say Wii: 199.99 bundles exactly?

Last week

PS3

289.99 bundles

360

229.99 bundles

169.99 bundles

129.99 bundles

Wii

199.99 bundles

Now or soon...

PS3

249.99 (no bundling)

360

189.99 - 199.99 ? Elite

129.99 Arcade bundles

Wii

199.99 bundles

Whats changed?  nothing.  The PS3 was selling for that figure anyway and the elite is going to be cheaper.

You mean the upgraded Pro will be more expensive?

If the pricing you predict does happen then 360 looks to be on a winner with both skus cheaper than the Wii and the price difference between the 360 and PS3 remaining the same. Actually at those prices if the 360 doesn't consistently outsell the Wii it's rather a bad sign for the 360. At least the PS3 has the excuse that it's still more expensive than the Wii.

I don't quite understand why the PS3 is the same price as the current Pro (and soon to be Elite) in the USA and Eurozone, but will keep the same price difference in the UK. Has Sony given up on the PS3 in the UK? I vaguely recall some mention of exchange rates and Wii price increase. Never mind, hop across the Chunnel and pick up a PS3 while on a weekend trip in Paris.

Looks like the same thing will happen here in NZ and in Aussie where the Elite will be considerably cheaper than the PS3, and the PS3 will remain above the really attractive price limit. IN Aussie it needs to be in the mid to low $400 range, here in NZ it needs to be in the mid to low $500s. Instead it will be in the high $400s and high $500s respectively. Given the NZD is worth about 67c US atm that means we will be paying nearly as much as the PS3 cost in the US before the price cut. Convert our price to Yen and it comes out at well above 40K Yen.

PS3 won't see a huge spike in sales here either, I think. It seems Commonwealth countries are for the shaft.

Wii Sports included. Btw, the one console per customer is definitely making a difference on Amazon UK -- the Slim is now #3 below Wii Sports Resort and Halo ODST.

First few people cared about the Elite and yes, nothing has changed The 360 is still 129, which is amazin, but sadly these making me feel better threads wont help the craziness that's coming next month.
