Forums - Gaming - Put you on series #1: CRESCENT TOWER - FINAL FANTASY + WIZARDRY and a little bit of POKEMON(All Consoles)

Developed by Japanese one man studio Curry Croquette, Crescent Tower takes difficulty of the WIZARDRY series, The battle and Job system from FINAL FANATSY(Specifically III/V) and the exploration of a POKEMON game and rolls into one awesome experience.

KEY FEATURES

  • Character Creation - 3 different races (Human, Beastman, and Elf) that have their own unique personal skill and 9 different classes for further augmentation
  • Job Inheritance - Like Final Fantasy V, every class has a series of abilities that are earned as they level up. Abilities marked with a Star can be transferred to a new classes allowing for unlimited builds.
  • Battle System - Directly lifted from Final Fantasy III unapologetically, but highly polished. Every ability feels useful and that's what I ended up liking the most about battle system. I ain't never used sleep so much.
  • Exploration - Each floor must be mapped by you! An important item is the Magic map item that maps the area around you, you also must maintain your lighting. As the torch fizzles out the effectives of the Magic map item is reduced while also increasing encounter rate. There are 10 floors totals and the floors connect in variety of ways. Use your field skills to uncover secrets
  • Difficulty - Game provides 2 difficulties; Retro for a WIZARDRY like experience and Modern for a more relaxed trek. Play Retro. The game loop is designed around it: Explore and map floors little by little, get items, level up and get out to save and buy new stuff then repeat. Tougher but more rewarding.

Crescent Tower is my indie game of the year so far. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and cannot recommend it enough. It is only 9.99. If you cannot get it now put it your cart for the time when you want something small inbetween the big games....And thank me later.

Downloading the demo on steam now, seems rather interesting from what you and some other reviewers are telling...

Enjoy! I finished it 100% and I'm still wanting to go back to it.
