Getting remastered for PS4/Xbox and PC

They will be adding a full voice acting. Gameplay tweaks. Takahisa Taura of PlatinumGames and Toylogic working on it. They are just calling it an updated version rather than a remaster or remake. (?) Rerecording the OST with new tracks. It should be out sometime this year. If you have not played Nier yet. Give Automata ago. Aside from some references, the first Nier is not needed to play. Just some fan stuff would make more sense. Nier 1 was an amazing concept wrapped in an average playing game. Sounds like the updates will make it better. They really are something special and unique you will not find anywhere else.

I'm excited as hell.

I don't even really care if the game is mediocre, I'm just glad I'll be able to play it after trying to play the original on an emulator that made the screen get progressively more red and the audio progressively more distorted as you play (das the power of the cell after all).

Fuck that makes me super happy. Nier is one of my favorite games of all time. Ive played both versions, Replicant and Gestalt so I'm a bit bummed that its only replicant without giving you the option to play as both father or brother Nier since I think both interpretations of the character are great for different reasons. Still super happy.

Hype. My favorite game is finally coming to modern platforms. Good to finally see western release of Replicant. Getting this day one.

Is this the same game that released in 2010 for Xbox 360 and PS3? I always wanted to play that game. I'm reading something about there being different versions? Anyone informed enough to spill some details?

From what I remember reading up the games a few years ago, instead of playing as a dad you play as a brother of the main female. They released two different versions in Japan for 360 and PS3, but in the West we only got the version that lets you play as the dad.

Depending on what they do with it, this could be a really cool thing. The original Nier was a game with a great story, cast of characters and music, but the gameplay and graphics were somewhat lacking, so all they really need to do in my opinion is update the graphics and make the gameplay more in line with Nier: Automata, and it could be an excellent port/remaster/whatever it's going to be.

Eh, I'm not sure to be hyped for it, especially since the previous NieR port on PC wasn't all that good. (they never even patched the damn thing, not even once).

Hyped, but kinda weird that a game is announced so close to next gen. Hopefully there is a next gen sku
