Ok I’m now interested in Grounded. I wouldn’t pay much attention if it was an endless loop of survival.
Now that it has a story and item restricted sections I’m down. Obsidian Continues to always impress

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

It's good that Digital Foundry are FINALLY starting to educate it's audience on the unimportance of flops.

Interesting. So using the rumored 9.2 tflop PS5 chipset, as well as that same chipset overclocked to 10.2 tflop (considering the rumors that Sony may be heavily overclocking to try and bridge the gap between PS5 and XSX), as a baseline for 4K, the 4 tflop Navi chipset rumored for Lockhart may be enough to hit 1440p. However, that assumes that 3rd party PS5 games will actually hit native 4K, it's quite possible that 3rd party devs will only target 4K on XSX, with PS5 falling it at a lower 1800p or so, in which case 4 tflop is no longer enough for 1440p, only 1080p.

Either way, I think that MS would be wise to bump it up to 6 tflop Navi at least. They need to leave developers alot of wiggle room so that Lockhart ports won't require heavy optimization. They don't want to chase off 3rd party developers, especially JP developers who are already skittish about supporting Xbox, by forcing them to heavily optimize for 2 different Xbox consoles. If they give developers 6 tflop to work with instead of 4 tflop, they will more easily be able to hit Microsoft's 1440p target on Lockhart without the need for heavy optimization.

Basically it would provide a similar potential graphical experience to the Xbox One X... Just with added Ray Tracing and more capable CPU cores for things like physics simulation.

But this is all hypothetical's at this point, we don't know if lockhart is even happening... And we do know that RDNA2 in next-gen *will* be more efficient than RDNA 1, which in turn was a step up over Graphics Core Next, so this "comparison" wasn't anything we should take home definitively to start with, it's not accurate.

It's just to give people an "idea" and to reinforce the unimportance of teraflops for gaming.

E3 is 99 days away folks. I would love for the Xbox Division to bring out:

ReCore 2 with a much higher budget and not on damn Unity.

Funded Crytek game using the new CryEngine.

Killer Instinct with a higher budget and also get Iron Galaxy. They’re masters at fighting games.

I need a high quality collectathon platformer on Xbox.

Remedy needs another chance at Quantum Break with the refined NorthLight engine. Buy the damn company as well damn it.

and before all that starting 11th March there is 5 Xbox Game Studio releases to be occupied with across 69 days.

I think we will eventually get another Killer Instinct but maybe not at console launch but I think a new Banjo is fairly imminent possibly launch/launch window, I hope we see a PC release date for Flight Sim at E3 along with a confirmation of "early 2021" for XSX release date. It's going to be interesting to see what 2nd party games they bring to E3 with the Backstreet Boys one the only confirmed out of the multiple deals Phil said they signed up at the end of 2017 when the budget arrived.

Backstreet Boys? Bruh... 👀

I’d like to have Flight Sim as well, even though I just like the arcade version of them. I like to sight see on them stuff.

For titles remaining on this gen, I’m exited about Ori and Wasteland 3.

Reply is weird now.

It's true that it is still not clear if Lockhart even exists. I agree with one comment under this DF article that if Lockhart indeed exists, it should launch almost at the same time as Series X. Going from lower end SKU to higher end like One S to One X guarantees no compatibility problems but the other way around is complicated. Devs should know from the start whether Lockhart exists or not to guarantee that all games would work on it day one without additional patches.

Not happening

Possible but quite unlikely at launch and not being announced this E3 either.

Maybe but who knows
