Some people think that 1st party games on PS4 are doing great and they have great sales, reality is that PS4 has only one 1st party game in top 10 best selling games, and only three 1st party games in top 30 best selling games.

3rd parties have to sell their games somewhere. The fewer 1st party games we have, the better.

Also, selling 5m+ copies is not selling great?

Two of them are just ports/remasters of PS3 games as well

That's some weird logic.

Ps consoles sell well because of diversity. Looking at the top 30, I only own FFXV. Nothing else. And yet I own more than 100 games already. I'm sure that's the case for many people.

Just because a game sells 1m or even less, it doesn't mean it's not a system seller. Someone may have bought a ps4 for Nino Kuni 2, others for Until Dawn. Bottom line, it has such a strong catalogue that ignoring it (as well as all the psn games) and focusing on the best performing games makes little to no sense.

when you have the biggest console library by far, the most games in the console generation, all the biggest publishers releasing games on your platform, you are going to have a lot of competition for your games. Sony had a lot of successful and profitable software. UC4, Horizon, Bloodborne, Killzone SF, Infamous Second Son, Infamous First light, Until Dawn, Ratchet and Clank are some of those. with huge hitters like GoW, TLoU and Gran Turismo on the way.

and just remember, the biggest first party game this console generation is on PS4. so yeah.


cant wait until we get somebody start using attach rate as a way to show how successful PS4 first party games are

5m for basically two best PS3 games on instal base of 60m IMO is not great its good, UE4 has great sales, but again only 3 1st party games passed 3m sales mark and reached top 30 best selling games.

Can you please quote these "some people"?

I also hope you do know that being a system seller does not also mean having to sell a lot of copies. All games collectively drive console sales. At least consoles with a wide variety. I don't really see your point here.

The sales numbers of Sony's 1st party games do not contradict at all that they're the biggest system sellers.

That's exactly my point, 1st party games on PS4 are less popular than ever.

That's true only if you don't include 3DS, because if you do, 7-8 1st party games outsold UE4 on PS4. If you include only home consoles, it would be very odd that PS4 doesnt have best selling 1st party game because it has double bigger instal base than XB1, 4-5x bigger instal base than Wii U and more than 10x bigger instal base than Switch.

You dont need attach rate (but attach rate is legitimate point) this list tells us how much popular are PS4 1st party games.
