Can't comment but yay! Another review!

I liked it marginally more than VII, which was a massive disappointment to me personally. I grew up loving the NES and SNES ones (even imported and learned enough Japanese to play the missing SFC titles), so FF7 was the biggest thing in the world to me, and it ended up feeling incredibly restrictive and slow. I hated the art style as well, so the more 'mature' looking FF8 was more appealing (at the expense of looking a bit generic).

Never played it ;o!? You should!

I know! There's no excuse. I will soon!

Found a little typo in your comparison scores. You accidentally switched the digits in your FFVI score. No big deal but you should correct that asap unless you want people keeping their disgusted look at you.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I prefered 7,10,9 alot more than ff8.... but its still like a solid "7" score for me.

Lmao!

FFVI is like my 2nd most fav FF game :p

FF6 and FFT are my favorites.

I don't think I can give FF8 more than an 8.0.  I am working from memory, however, as I haven't played it since it came out.  I should probably give it another try.  At the time, I remember not liking the main character or the setting all that much.  I did like some of the enemies and elements of the story but it also had some periods that were kind of a drag.  I did like Selphie and Quistis, though I found Rinoa bland.  The magic system was one of the worst.

The game, though not bad, was a low spot for the Final Fantasy series for the great FF6-FF10 period.

Finally. Now be done with FFIX so you can move on to the real deal.

For me the story, characters, setting and music (well PSX version - I had to mod the PSX OST into the PC ver which only took me a few seconds) were the highlights.

I didnt enjoy the game system specificially the junction system - its a good idea at first but restricts you from using magic as a offensive form - the only magic spells I've used was "Aura" and that was at the very end of the game. (Protect, Shell and Haste only if the enemy has it drawable and cast).

I also agree - out of the FF games from FF6 to 10 - 8 is my least favorite.

I finished FFIX for PS1 on my PS2 about 10 years ago.

This will be my third playthrough for FFIX but my first one for the PC version. :p

Oh so you already played FFX as well?

FFVIII is definitely one of the best game/Final Fantasy out there. FFIX is still my favourite. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

Oh, yeah, I remember loving the card game, though.
