This is Halloween...!

Heya everyone, it's Cloudman again, and we are here for the final return to my humble abode, the...

And for this final visit, I want to dig deep into something a little more personal. Everyone's worst fears!!! ...at least in video games.. x )

          So everyone at least has something they fear, right? In real life, probably my worst fear are spiders, especially turantulas. Usually, I'm fine with itty bitty spiders, but the bigger they get and the longer their legs are, the more they frighten me. Just the sight of one makes me jump several feat away. The thought of them crawling near me... Just.... CREEPY >_<

Well, how about in video games? What do I fear the most? Well, it might be a bit of a shock...

My worst nightmare...

Now I bet you're thinking "Cloudman, what the heck is that?! What are you, a baby? That isn't scary at all!" Even more, it comes from this game.

The Adventures of Lolo for the NES

A cute game with hearts and happy caterpillars! : D

         Now, anyone would wonder 'How can something like this have anything frightening in it? It's so cute!' Well, things are different for you when this is likely your first game, and you are like.... 4 or 5 years old. Imagine yourself as a little Cloud, playing this game. Like so...

          When this happened to me the first time as I child, it scared me. It scared me so much that I wouldn't play the game anymore. I was afraid this weird thing would zap me and kill me again if I got to close to it. Just the sight of it would get me nervous. Even now when I looked up pictures for it, it gave me a small chill again. It may seem like nothing now, but as a kid, it scared me, and now, I'm not sure if I can play this game again. Maybe I can, but I'll be nervous. Heck, the whole game feels a little scary to me. Everything starts off asleep when you start the game, but the moment you collect the last heart, they all spring to life. That alone is pretty scary, but with the medusa heads present too. I'm kind of halted in my steps, haha...

I see yooooou.... >: D

          So there is my answer, the medusa head from Lolo is the thing that scares me the most in video games... So my question to you is this.

WHAT SCARES YOU THE MOST IN ANY VIDEO GAME?

Ambiance and silence.

For example, I was playing Fatal Frame V last night and in one of the chapters you walk down a hallway filled with lifelike dolls posed as little girls. Literally just walking down that hallway with the noises and just the mere possibility of something happening was unsettling.

Nice finale, it was a great ride and read, even though I don't play horror games, so thanks for this Cloud!

My worst nightmare in video games have to be the things that just slowly creep up to you and just delay your inevitable death, it makes the moment really tense and of course, scary T-T

Another thing are bugs. Just any bug. It doesn't matter what bug, they are seriously my lifelong enemy :(

Man, got a few where the fear is something physical, but psychological. Those are really good too. Nothing like the mind and the atmosphere playing tricks on you, and even though I played Siren, I don't remember what the shibito are... @_@ is that like.. dead people..?

I tried Adventures of Lolo before, but it came off as super quirky for me, so I ended up dropping it, but maybe I should revisit it one of these days.

Also, +1 for Undertale music!

That head is similar to the mask from SMB2, do they scare you?

A few games have scared me, most notably Resident Evil 2. When you walk near a window and arms come out XD
