On the west, even if the game came to the PS4, i dont think it would substancially sell more. Its still a niche title. As i said, i would be more concerned if they missed their august window and went against the christmas juggernauts. That is what i am worried about. And as i also said, if they are going to make something for the PS4, it would be better for us and for them if it was something that would add content and detail to the game and not just a straight port of a PS3 game. |
Zestiria didn't sell very well in Japan either. Declining interest in last gen is a contributor to that I believe.
Doesn't help that there was a ton of controversy behind some of the DLC too.

Of course, but do you think it would have sold more if it came out on the PS4 looking the way it does?

Of course you can't speak in absolutes, but I think the cross generation versions of Yakuza have benefitted. While it wouldn't have doubled in sales, it would have certainly given a nice buffer + given you more fans on PS4 as that's where the next Tales will be.
Too bad it isn't on the PS4, I kinda messed up the disc drive on my PS3 and it can only do digital now haha. I would love to see a Tales of game come to the PS4 sometime soon.

I understand that. But Yakuza 0 didnt do well and its difficult to pinpoint if its the consoles its on or fatigue of the series. Tales is pretty much in the same boat.
I do think a PS4 version could have helped, but would have it been worth the investment? What price would there be to pay in terms of game quality? Would it outsell or outbudget a port of an older game like Vesperia for example? Its alot of if's, while the PS3 release was a certainty. I can totally understand why they sticked with it.
