Hmmm the PS2 was still pretty huge back then though.

360's first year was pretty mediocre, iirc the worst of all 7th gen consoles in terms of sales. It's actually a bit misleading towards the PS4's success because at the rate it's going by the end of the year the gap will be 7-8 million which means the gap would be higher than every 7th gen console's FY except the Wii. Which is pretty impressive.

This also kinda ties in to why I'm annoyed with people continuously saying "Xbone is doing good! It's tracking above the 360 at the same point in its lifetime".

Well.....apparently, outselling the 360 in the same time period isn't that big a deal. PS3 did it. And it did it with "bad sales".

So to reitterate, PS4 is selling as if there was no competition^^

X1 will likely see a pretty substantial rebound considering it has considerably more games coming for it that are of the AAA variety. With the MCC, Sunset and CoD bundles, and the removal of the nitwits in the Xbox brand, you'll likely see upticks come the holiday. The titles coming should help it get a new, decent to high, baseline. We'll see how it goes from there but it will no doubt end up behind the PS4 come the end. (Not that it matters, they will all lose to computers... combined. :P)

WiiU has and always will be in a world of its own with its own games and flavours that don't really have much to do with the other two consoles. I think they have the largest and longest line of upcoming big hitters of all of the systems but its not really in-line as competition to either the X1 or the PS4. That is until the release of Bloodbourne U! :P
