Guys, so I've been MIA for quiet some days due to FF14ARR, anyways, I was fighting Svara today and the question that popped up in my head was "should people get this on the PS3 or PC if I were to recommend it?" The answer, even if you don't have a PC, stay away from the PS3 version anyways, and I'll show you why:

Wait for the PS4 version if you don't have a decent PC, for fuck sake, just a friendly advice if you are thinking about it.

I was going to wait for the PS4 version anyways, The PS3 just cant handle MMO's with decent graphics and framerates. plus you can have the keyboard with the PS4 version aswell.

It's extremely frustrating as both PS3/PC player. It's nice to have the PS3 version on my big screen, but realistically, its just stupid if you actually want to do fate's. However, for dungeons and crafting its fine. =p

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

dahuman, that issue is on both PS3 and PC since the game prioritize seeing players, and party members before monsters.

The below is a Square Enix representative response in the FFXIV forums.

Hello,

The development team is aware of the issue that occurs when a large amount of players congregate for the Odin and Behemoth FATEs that the server can becomes unstable and characters are not displayed properly.

The below two points are high on the priority list in order to address the issue:

  • Zone enhancements
There are times that the server will crash when more than 1,000 players gather within a zone. In order to prevent this from happening, we'll be implementing zone enhancements.

  • Display prioritization adjustments
FFXIV: ARR has been designed with a system to display the appropriate number of characters while maintaining non-laggy conditions even when there are a large amount of players centralized in a location. However, even though this system is working, for these two FATE there is an issue where Odin and Behemoth are not being displayed. In order to resolve this issue, we'll be putting in a separate system specifically for these two FATE, and addressing it so the enemies are displayed properly even during times of congestion.

As mentioned, these two adjustments are high on the priority list so we can address this issue; however, it will take a little bit until everything is completed. We apologize for any inconveniences until then.

Also, we understand that this same issue is occurring for other FATEs as well, but we are prioritizing Odin and Behemoth as this issue occurs much more often in these FATEs. We'll be addressing other FATE that have a high degree of urgency afterwards using the same methods.

We'd like to address this as quickly as possible and once we have some more information to share we will be sure to let you know!

I sure see a lot more players on the PC version then lol :P Also the 60 FPS

The PS3 seems to have a much better framerate than my PC, I have a bit higher settings though.

I have a 40 inch as well, but the ps3 version is  just a bag of total suck. resolution sucks, screen feels cluttered (yes you can change the hud, but it feels so tight when you enable the majority of the hud options), chars limited on screen, slight input lag when gameplay gets heavy (fates)...it's a shame compared to the ultra-superior PC version, where, to be frank, shit just works.

It's more than clear that the game is meant for PC and kb/mouse input. It's so inferior, that even when you change the options on ps3 to use L1/R1 to enable macros rather than the default L2/R2, the GUI remains the same for the default! (remains showing L2/R2 graphic after changing the input option)

I'm glad that I have the option to play the game on multiple consoles (as the FFXI multiple console option made it very accessible), but the PS3 version is just completely inept. It works, but its just nowhere near as good. Thankfully my 560 Ti can run the game full 1080P, 55~60FPS, otherwise, if if my only option was to play the game on PS3, I would never pay for a subscription.
