Looking over the news on the Xbox One reveal, I noticed that One doesn't actual appear on the console itself. Perhaps the name is not set in stone and is up for change. There is good reason to call it One, as they are trying to make it the all in one system, but there is a clear reason why they shouldn't as it goes against all sound logic for sequential ordering. MS saw the reaction to the Wii U name, perhaps they are playing it safe in case Xbox One didn't go over well.

But what do you think? Should they keep it? Drop it to just Xbox? Change it to Infinity or otherwise?

In all honesty, the fact that we all accepted... or should I say "tolerated" the names Xbox which is sooo 90's American culture or Wii & Wii U, is still surprising to me. Xbox one (or even the seriously generic PS4) seems to be the natural progression.

I don't think it works for core gamers nor casuals. Imagine telling your someone you want a "one" for Christmas. I think MS dropped the ball with its real today, and the new name didn't help.

Xbox has always been a horrible name, that tried to sound cool in the late 90's but still failed. I remember everyone laughing about it back then. They should have changed the name completely.

I've always hated the name "Xbox" anyway. It's like it's trying soooo hard to be edgy *eyeroll*

That being said, I can see Microsoft running into the same problem that Nintendo did. Casuals not knowing the difference :p

hell yes! is Sony the only company that can names something with out being rediculous. Of coarse 4 means basically death in jap.. but its the right fucking name. Oh yeah. i think it should have been xfinity

xbox, wii, and playstation are all horrible names. meh.

well after searching for xbox one today i got alot of pics of the original xbox. the news stories obviously pointed towards the new console but that wont always be the case when the hype dies down. but hey MS have cash so im sure they will advertise the shit out of it and make sure that we all know what it it. probably too late to change its name

Well I thought Wii U was bad but they kept that so I think they can keep this one :).
